Getting homely

It was dark. My lungs felt like bursting as I kept running. The forest was to dark, the sharp thorns of the plants picking on my skin and causing scratches. Shouting was behind me, so close that I could feel the hot breathing down my neck. Faster. Hurry! Wherever is the escape I need, just to go there! Faster feet! Run faster legs! Just faster as ever before! It was warm and yet I felt so heavily sore and cold that I wanted to give up. I wanted to stop running, but something in me pushed me harder. So much that I didn't care for what was on the ground. Just a clearance. Anything to see the sky to see where to go. Where I could go. The way my face darted upwards as I lost my footing, the way the ground swallowed me whole...it was scary...help...Help...HELP!

„FRISK!"
I opened my eyes and felt my heart beating out of my chest. Slowly I got up and hold it while staring in the dimly lit room towards Chara. They looked shaken up...what's wrong?
„...yes?"
Ugh, my voice sounds like I ran a marathon. Technically I did ran one...just not physically.
„You screamed for help in your sleep and I couldn't wake you up no matter what!"
Ah...their hands are shaking. They probably caused the cold feeling in my dream. The hands passing through my body to wake me up. I coughed a little to get the dry throat feeling away before I smiled up apologetic.

„I'm sorry...just a nightmare."
A knock was echoing in the room as I heard Toriel's soft voice through the door.
„My child, is everything alright? I heard you talking to yourself."
Right. At times where I am alone with Chara, I don't remember that no one can see them.
„Y-yes I'm fine! I will come out in a second."
„Fine my Hotlands, you look horrible."
„Really?"
„Yeah. Death scared horrible."
Oh...this isn't good. I slowly got out of bed and saw a plate of pie on the ground. Is this...for me? Pie? I slowly picked it up and smiled.
„You better ask for a shower. You sweat a lot in your sleep."

I slowly stepped outside the room with the plate in my hand. Toriel stood a bit away from the door with her usual smile and soft gaze.
„Good morning my child."
„Good morning...uhm...can I really eat the pie?"
Her gaze softened even more as she looked down at me and crouched down while nodding.
„Why yes...but having pie for breakfast must be a weird fact, right? How about you freshen yourself up first? I'm sure breakfast will be even more delicious if you are more awake."
A bathroom is in this house? I didn't see one anywhere. I thought Monsters don't need a bathroom. From my confused stare, Toriel chuckled and looked towards the stairs.

„There is a washing room just under the stairs. But please, do not proceed further as that point on. It is quite dusty and dark and I don't want you to fall."
Ah...so it's downstairs. I nod and she smiled brightly once more as she stood back up.
„Alright. I will be in the kitchen if you need me. And this pie will wait as dessert for you on the table."
Carefully she took the plate from me, as if she was afraid I flinch away again before she really went into the kitchen. Chara flew out inside the hall while staring to the stairs.
„Well go already. Grab some clothes from the closet and wash up. You don't want to make her wait right?"

Just as Chara told me, I took some clothes that looked around the size of mine. It weren't the most comfiest, but I wouldn't judge. I have no place to do so. The walk downstairs made the atmosphere change completely. It wasn't as warm down here and the no sounds were down here as well. It was...eerily quiet. I used my hands to direct me to the door under the stairs and opened it. It looked like it wasn't used much. There was a bug shower and a bug bathtub, alongside a toilet and a sink. One mirror was placed on a child heightened level. Once I shut the door behind me, a warm little fire sparked up at the ceiling, spreading some warmth and light into the room. I felt a little safer now, given that it wasn't as cold and quiet anymore once I took my clothes off and went into the shower.
