This time the fight was a little easier against other monsters. I knew what to look out for most of the time, but the pattern was hard to memorize. Just like everything else was to go through. And once we returned to the mushroom rooms, the puzzle was still not really a puzzle. Chara told me they would scan the rooms so we wouldn't come in contact with any other monster on the path. Or a certain Loox. I didn't wanted to see it. Not when the memory was still so fresh. The ghost kid did agree that it takes time and courage and that they would this once look over the fact that I want to be careful and drag this short way out so long. My body leaned against the wall of the room and I hugged myself. Why would monster down here attack me? What did I do wrong to them that they are so hostile?
I glanced into my pockets and pulled out the phone to call Toriel, but...I faltered to actually press on the button. She must be busy...she probably wouldn't find it good if I bothered her too much. Whatever she was doing, it must be important. Too much so to be bothered by a human child. By someone like me...
„Frisk!"
„Wah!"
My hands raised on instinct over my head as I looked up to see Chara flying above me with a terrible mood.
„You done sulking in your mind? Let's go, the flower is watching."
„Wait what?"But I didn't see anyone except them...however when Chara looks like they want to punch someone, I better not step in and question it. I got up from the ground and put the phone back into my pocket while looking around yet again.
„Are the monsters gone yet?"
„Most of them yes. You only have to run- ah wait you have to do the puzzle first. I can't really touch those mushrooms."
„What puzzle?"
Now they really looked like they wanted to punch me.
„Have you forgotten the sign at the start of those rooms?! How much of an idiot can you be??"
They sighed deeply and shook their head.Slowly the sign came back to my memories and I looked up at them again.
„Do...do I have to? While doing the puzzles, the monsters always attack me at least once! Can't I rally wait here for Toriel?"
„There are no Loox, but there might be if you waste more time! I did agree you can waste it, but only if a Loox is near and now none of them are! Now come on, hop hop!
I whined as they tried to pull me further ahead, but their cold hand phasing through my body was enough to make me shiver and comply. Sure, it must be nearly over soon, but...I feel like something bad is gonna happen. Or the fear of dying is just too big to make me think straight. Okay...running, flipping the switches-...wait.„Chara I can't read those signs!"
„Oh for the love of- blue, red and green. Just in this order. Now let's go."
They did say there aren't any Loox...and it really looked like they weren't any here. Good...I stared into the room, trying to see if there are many monsters or just some. There seemed to be some veggies poking out and those weird Migosp's, but they only want to mind their own business. So I started to run, pressing the blue switch and going straight into the next. It was easy to find the switches, but I really had to look out to not trip over the veggies or hide away from those jiggly puddings. Once the red switch was pressed, I breathed out as the room interior finally changed. There were vines on the ground and the path splits in two directions. Chara, who flew effortlessly around me, stared to the left.
„If you want to go quick to Toriel, you had left. If you want to look at the city, go straight."
This got a city here? And take a look where more monsters await for me? No thanks. I walked right to the left, feeling the red petals under my feet again. It looked nearly like an arrow that points forward. And in front of me, the image of an old and dead tree appeared. It was dark brown and looked like it had seen better days. I stepped forward, wanting to touch it, but the voice of Toriel hold me back to continue further.
„Oh dear, that took longer than I thought it would."She hold her phone up as she walked, but in that moment our eyes met and she hurried over to me with a worried expression.
„How did you get here, my child? Are you hurt?"
I was a little hurt before we got to the puzzle room. She noticed it immediately, the scratches on my skin and frowned before giving me a motherly smile.
„There, there, I will heal you."
A warm and fuzzy feeling went through my entire body and the injuries disappeared within minutes.
„I should not have left you alone for so long. It was irresponsible to try to surprise you like this."
Surprise me? I tilted my head and looked confused up at her. She looked embarrassed, like one would be if one speaks of a secret they weren't allowed to tell.
