"Is it okay if I hang out with Natalie tonight?"

Lynn's question hangs in the air for a second, catching you by surprise.

Since you had kicked her out for ditching you, you made up. You always do, not that you fought often. It was becoming a weird cycle lately, one you wanted to end.

If you were being honest, no. It wasn't okay with you and it probably never would be. Why would she even ask you that? That means she cares a little bit, right?

"No, yeah. That's okay," you shrug her off, praying she doesn't notice the slight shake in your voice.

Of course she does though, how could she not? You were all she knew and thought of. And as much as she wants to stay here with you and not Natalie, she can't.

You're her best friend and liking your best friend isn't ideal. Or something Lynn wanted to ruin between you.

"Okay," she breathes out, suddenly avoiding eye contact, because she knows she'll stay if she does.

"So, what's going on with you two anyway?" Lynn hadn't expected you to ask that, eyes snapping up to yours. Like it was crazy to ask or something.

You're best friends aren't you? Best friends talk about this stuff all the time, and part of you was curious. Curious to know if Lynn liked her.

"Uh nothing. Well, I think she likes me but I don't know," she says shyly, shaking her head at the statement. No sign of liking her back, right?

"So are you just hanging out or is it a date?" You press further, leaning a little closer to her, who was sitting across from you on your bed.

"Well, she called it a date but she could've been joking. Like how you do sometimes," she says the last part without even thinking. Except you were never joking, and neither was Natalie.

"I don't think she was. She seemed to really like you at the tournament," you say in fake amusement, and Lynn can tell too.

"Maybe," Lynn shrugs, attempting to end this conversation, because she felt like she shouldn't talk about this with you.

"Well, what will you do?" You ask again, ignoring her attempts.

"What do you mean?" Lynn hums, looking at you with the cutest look. The furrowed brows and slight frown.

"If she tries anything. I mean, you still haven't had your first kiss, right?" You know it's a little weird to ask, considering the circumstances but you need to know. You would die if anyone else kissed her before you.
