"My name is Carolina Seymour. I am twenty-four years old," Carolina began. "I am–I-, sorry, what else did you want me to say?"

"Anything," Katniss shrugged.

It was their second week as "buddies." Carolina still felt hesitant about the whole ordeal, but since she wasn't allowed to leave her hospital room, she didn't have any say in the matter.

Katniss arrived at Carolina's room every day and stayed from three o'clock to dinner time at seven. Neither of them spoke for the first couple of days, instead, the two girls spent their time having a four hour long staring competition.

It wasn't until the fourth day that the two girls were willing to talk to one another. This revelation came after both of them realized they were going to be stuck with one another until Carolina was able to join society again.

"I'm from District 4. I am the victor of the 68th Hunger Games," Carolina continued with a sigh. "This is stupid. I've been saying the same things for eight days."

"No, it's not," Katniss said. "It helps you figure out what's real and not real."

"I think I can figure out what's real and not real without doing whatever this is," Carolina scoffed.

Katniss stared at Carolina blankly for a long moment.

"You thought that Finnick was a mutt and that Reef was your dad," Katniss rolled her eyes. "I think you might need some help."

"The Finnick you put in my room was a mutt."

"Yes, and I'm President Snow," Katniss said flatly. "Now, keep going."

"Um... My parents were Thalassa and Marvin Seymour," Carolina continued. "They died in a fire when I was eighteen. I had a brother named Charlie. I don't think I really have to tell you how he died."

"How about we focus on happier things," Katniss suggested.

"Hold on," Carolina sighed. "This is going to take me a while."

Katniss leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms. Her eyes flitted around the room in boredom as Carolina stared at her.

Why is she even here? She thought as she gazed at Katniss.

Carolina knew why Peeta was in the Capitol. He was kept only two cells down from her in the training center. She could only assume that the Capitol transferred the boy as well to torment Katniss even more. They were planning something big for them. Something that they needed Carolina and Peeta alive and well for.

And now, Katniss was there.

She hadn't seen Katniss in the Capitol yet. She thought that the girl was long gone, either far away in District 13 or dead like the rest of the tributes in the arena with them. Carolina just couldn't wrap her head around the girl's sudden appearance.

When Katniss realized she was being watched, she sat up and cleared her throat.

"Did you think of something?" she asked.

"What are you doing here?" Carolina asked slowly.

"Plutarch made me," Katniss said. "He wants me to–"

"No, no, you already said that," Carolina cut her off. "I mean, what are you doing in the Capitol?"

"I–," Katniss stopped herself and thought for a moment. "I got shot when I was in District 2. That's why I was in the hospital wing the day you tried to kill Peeta."

"I did not try to kill Peeta," Carolina groaned.

"Then what were you doing?" Katniss asked. "Making friendship bracelets with him?"
