I knocked on the door while still holding the mug of coffee. I wasn't able to put it down after being pissed with our captain. I just left him in the living room and went straight there since he asked Canlas to go back to his post.

I figured that is also what he wanted me to do.

I worked with other captains before and I know that Conrad is just doing his job, but I don't know. He's being extra annoying now.

"Amara, it's me, Ada," I tried to make my voice full. I don't want to act unprofessional just because we started on the wrong foot or she was being a brat the first second she arrived here. We undergo training before since our bosses knew the possibility that we will be guarding brats that will be hard to deal with.

I also have worked with brats before and it all turned out well in the end. Besides, I knew that Amara's a brat when I took the assignment. I just didn't expect I would be this pissed because of Conrad, too.

Nakakagigil, e.

I remained standing in front of her door. I knocked again and called for her. "Amara?"

"Leave me alone!"

I suppressed a groan when I heard her yell. I have to control myself and it's just the first day that we met. As much as possible, I need to be on her good side so I would be able to tame her afterwards.

I drew a deep sigh. "I can't. You haven't eaten anything. Nanay Jacinta cooked champorado, she said you liked it. Do you want me to get some?" I asked her again.

"I said leave me alone!" she yelled again and I rolled my eyes.

"I am sorry, but that's not going to happen. We're here to make sure that you're safe, and it's my job to ensure you're comfortable and–"

"Are you fucking deaf?" bumukas ang pinto at agad na umangil sa akin si Amara. I looked at her deadpanned, showing her that I am not intimidated by her yelling.

"What do you want for dinner so I can ask Nanay Jacinta to prepare it and–"

"You're fired."

I was surprised by what she said. "I'm sorry?" Tinatanggal niya ako sa trabaho ko?

"I said you're fired," she arched her brow while looking at me. She even crossed her arms against her chest while staring at me. With just a look, I already knew that this woman is used to getting what she wants, and if she doesn't, she acts up–like now. "My dad hired you to guard me, and I don't want you here. So I am firing you. Pack your things and leave. You're fired!"

I smiled a little while staring at her. "Yes, your dad hired me. Sadly, you have no power to fire me, Amara. So, whether you like it or not, I will stay here and I will guard you and I will do my job."

"I don't need you here," she scoffed. "Leave me alone, I don't want to eat!" she yelled again and was about to close the door right in front of my face when a hand stopped it.

"Conrad," I acknowledged him and he looked at me. He gave me a concerned look before shifting his gaze towards Amara.
