Ochaco waited for the little one to finish eating before offering her dessert, but Eri went towards her room, leaving the older and the younger together.
"At least one who likes me here" the brunette thought, watching Utaka babble a few words to her.
She lifted Utaka from the high chair and placed her on the sofa, where she also sat down. Utaka fell asleep once she was settled on the couch while her babysitter took out her pink flip phone. She searched for Izuku's personal number and called him.
After a short wait, the young man answered.
"Am I bothering you?" Ochaco asked with concern.
"No, we just arrived at the hotel, actually. I'm glad you called, I have something to tell you, but I'm also a bit anxious. Did Eri do something or is something wrong?" he asked.
"No, it's just that I'm not sure what to do with her since this morning. Every time we talk, it ends up on a cold note. It's almost like she's saying, 'Keep talking, I'm not interested.' I feel like she doesn't trust me or likes me" she confessed.
"Don't worry, she'll get tired of it soon enough," Izuku reassured her. "But you know, if she remains really unpleasant, you can scold her or gently raise your voice. She'll come looking for a hug. Eri is still a six-year-old girl. Don't forget that" he concluded.
"Okay..." she said, still a bit saddened by Eri's behavior. "And by the way, what did you want to tell me?"
"Oh, right... We've been informed that we won't be able to return until Monday evening. You'll need to take care of the girls until then. Eri goes to school on Monday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. You'll need to drop her off and pick her up. I'm sorry" he said.
"It's fine. Have a good afternoon, Midoriya" she said, ending the call.
Ochaco put her phone away and took Utaka in her arms to put her in the crib.
Around 9 PM.
Ochaco checked that Utaka was asleep and then went to bed—well, Izuku's bed. Thinking about it made her blush, but she moved on. She lay down when Eri entered the room.
"You should be sleeping, Eri. What are you doing here?" asked the older girl.
"It's more like I should ask you what you're doing in Dad's bed" the little one said.
"Your dad told me I could sleep here. Have you seen the guest room? Sorry, it was a bit of a mess. But why are you here?" she asked.
"Why should I tell you? You're not my dad" the little girl huffed.
"What's wrong with me! Since this morning, you've been responding as if I were your dog. Your dad told me you were a cheerful girl despite your fears. Instead, I'm getting a poorly raised and mean little girl. So what's wrong with me?" she said, holding back tears.
"You're just saying that to make me like you and to make me think you're nice. But you're like all the others. You just want Dad's money. In the end, he'll be sad, and you'll abandon me. It's always like that!" Eri shouted.
"And who says I'm like that? Sure, I'm poor, as broke as can be, but I never bribed your father for money. He saved me and trusts me. I don't know if the other women who were in this bed knew that. But I know that your father is the number one hero in our country, the great Deku, if I may say. He even took me to their agency. He's my friend. My only friend. And I was happy to come and take care of you and Utaka because it made Midoriya happy. I never thought a cute little girl like you could react like this. Yes, you're right, I'm not your father, nor your mother, nor your sister, and apparently, I'm not even a friend to you, but I have to take care of you, and know this: you won't get rid of me until Monday, so you'll have to deal with it, young lady" she said, crying.
"I had a nightmare, that's why I came to Daddy's room. I'm sorry for making you cry. I didn't mean to. When I saw you, I never thought you were bad, but I thought you were hiding something, and apparently, you're not. I'm really sorry" the little girl apologized.
"It's nothing, after all, I'm the one who stepped into your space. I saw the frames in the living room. In all the photos, you're with your dad, and I'd say your grandparents. I really like the one with your dad, where you're both dressed as superheroes. But I don't belong to that bubble, sorry for stepping on your territory. To be honest, I don't even know where my place is in this world, where my own bubble is, but know this: I will never try to steal yours" Ochaco responded to the little one, saddened by her words.
Eri climbed onto her dad's bed, where Ochaco was, and made her way into her arms.
"Can I sleep with you?" Eri asked gently.
"Of course" the brunette replied.
The two girls lay down, and a few minutes later, Eri looked at her.
"You know, I'd like to have a mom as nice as you, and if you want... I'll let you into this bubble without saying anything. You're not like the others who came to break into it. I felt them when you arrived" the little girl said, making Ochaco smile as she gently rocked her.
They were so cute together, but what would Izuku have thought if he were there? He would probably have blushed and maybe even mumbled, who knows?
