"I'm sorry about that"

Beyoncé spoke toward the woman sat perched on the white couches as she walked into her office. She shrug off her suit jacket and hanged it up at the jacket area before moving toward the couch where her friend sat.

"This lunch was your idea"

The other woman scolds pointing at the food laid out on the table as Beyoncé took a sit.

"C'mon Vic, cut me some slack. I already apologised. Meeting ran longer than I thought." The blonde sighed as her friend sucked her teeth pointing her plastic fork toward her.

"You are lucky I like you"

Beyoncé cheesed flashing the woman a wide smile which had her laughing "dork"

"You love it" shrugged the CEO and Victoria made an hmm sound at the back of her throat because it was true.

She and Beyoncé have been friends since college. Both coming from the same high power family, they attended the same private school. While Victoria was the wild child, Beyoncé tended to keep to herself, once they became friends though, Victoria made sure she dragged Beyoncé to every party there was around the campus.

"Do you want to tell me why you have been back almost a whole month but we're just meeting up now?"

Beyoncé made sure she finished up with chewing first before answering her friend "you are aware I have just been handed a whole company right?"

"So? You can't take at least a little hour for your poor ole friend?" Huffed Victoria with a pout "like do you ever just take a moment for yourself?"

"I take plenty of moments to myself, when I go to sleep at night" restored Beyoncé with the most serious of expression on her face making Victoria give her a cut look.

"I'm serious Bey..." she trails but Beyoncé shrugged her off "your dad is right" scoffed the smaller woman.

"Here we go" Beyoncé rolls her eyes with a sigh. The same talk she has been receiving not only from her dad but also Robyn.

Speaking of Robyn, she was currently meeting up with team who will be starting on the project of rebuilding downtown soon.

"Do you ever think about anything else besides work?" Victoria asks before taking a sip from her drink of water.

"Hm I don't know Vic. I have a whole company depending on me, have a whole team of men babies I need to keep in line. My father has managed to keep everything standing for all these years, honouring my mother's memory and I will be damn if it falls under my responsibility"

Victoria groans slightly, she understands the pressure her friend was under, she was in the same boat as her, just like Beyoncé, she too was the eldest born of her parents, she was also expected to be a lot but still, she made sure she has fun while doing it.

"This company isn't going to fall if you take one day to just enjoy yourself Bey"

"I tried dating, remember?" Beyoncé spoke already knowing what Victoria was getting into her about.

It is always about her love life but everyone always fails to understand that Beyoncé isn't picky, the women around her are just gold diggers. Soon enough, it is always about materials to them.

At some point she even entertained the idea of making a proposition to her friend, it would be simply platonic just long as Beyoncé has someone in her arms then she thought, no. She didn't want to ruin their friendship and plus, she wanted her friend to live her life and find love.

"No you got obsessed with trying to find the perfect dream girl and as a result you have driven all potential future wives away" Victoria points out.

"Wives? That's a bit of a stretch my friend" Beyoncé chuckles deeply and Victoria glares at her.
