     I brought Penny in for a check up on the baby.  I never thought I would be sitting in a doctor's office with a pregnant lady but here I am.  Brick wasn't up for it this morning so it's just the two of us.  I am sitting here while the doctor talks to her about what she needs to do.  I hear her mention that Penny needs to put on some weight for the health of the baby.  I will make sure she does.  I understand the she has morning sickness but I also know that her brother was a bastard who didn't feed her right.  The doctor tells us to come back in a month as long as she doesn't have any problems.  As we leave the clinic I asked her if she wants to go anywhere else.  Penny thinks about it for a moment then asked me if I would carry her to the store to look at some baby books.  I decide to go to the next town over because they have the better options.  While she is looking at the books I see one on what to do to help her with her pregnancy.  I decide to grab it just so I know what to do when certain things happen.  She grabs couple of books.  One is what to expect and the other is something about how to take care of a newborn.  We leave there and decide to go by the diner to grab some lunch.  I call Brick to see if he wants to go too.  He says he is ready to get out of the damn house.  I can't help but to laugh at that.  He is one guy who can not stand to be held down.  He is has lost some weight and I see that everything kind of takes all of his strength.  I know the doctor says he will improve but I am little worried about him. 

     After going by the house to pick of Brick we managed to beat the lunch crowd.  We are sitting there waiting on our food when we see Cherise come in.  Penny jumps up and runs to her.  We both laugh as she gives Cherise a bear hug.  We asked Cherise to join us.  We all sit down and talk while we wait.  I see that Cherise looks so much happier now that she is no longer at the clubhouse.  I have to ask her "Cherise how's it going with Razor?"  Cherise actually blushes as she answers me "It's wonderful.  He is so sweet and good to me.  We are pretty serious with each.  He respects the fact that I need to take it slow while I learn this new way of life.  I love having my own apartment and a job at the bar.  I miss you guys though."  Brick and me both love this girl as a sister.  I had hoped that I could develop feelings for her but it just didn't work out that way.  I have never been serious with any girl though.  I am a one bam thank you mam kind of guy.  My mother fucked that up for me.  I don't feel like I can be with someone to the point of not loving my kid enough to chose them over my significant other.  We get our food and we all eat.  I can't help but watch as Penny eats a club sandwich with extra pickles and she also keeps dipping some pickles in her chocolate shake.  We all look at each other and Penny looks up at us funny.  Penny asked "What's everyone looking at?  Do I have something on my face?"  I can't help to laugh at this.  I answer her "No sweetie, you are just throwing us off with the pickles in the chocolate shake."  She dips another pickle in it and eats it.  This baby is going to come out eating pickles. 

     We left the diner and then headed to go to a movie.  Brick was not ready to go home yet and Penny was excited to go.  From what little we know about her she didn't get to anything like that.  It's nice to put a smile on her face.  We let her pick the movie and even though she picked out a horror movie knowing she will be scared we let her.  I grab us some popcorn and sodas.  I see they have those big ass pickles to eat so I grab her one.  I make my way to the seats and hand her the pickle.  The girl lit up like a Christmas tree.  I take my seat and as the movie begins I looked over to Penny who is sitting between Brick and me.  I realize that I like this.  I have never brought a girl to the movies not since highschool anyway.  We are about thirty minutes into the movie when Penny jumps and reaches for my hand.  I hold onto her to give her the security she needs.  She leans her head onto my shoulder and I slip my arm around her shoulders.  Again I get this feeling in my chest.  I have no idea what is happening to me.  I get back to watching the movie when Penny screams out in fright then I see she reaches for Brick's hand too.  I can't help but laugh I knew she would be like this.  I am sitting to her left and Brick to her right with her holding both our hands.  I see Brick look over to Penny and he has a funny look on his face.  This girl is getting to the both of us I think.  I love my brother though so if that becomes the case then I will back away.  I do not want anything to hurt our friendship.  He saved me all those years ago and gave me a family. 

     We leave the movie theater then decide it's been enough for the day.  I can see that Brick looks exhausted already.  As we are driving along Penny asked me to stop at the little gas station right before the house.  I pull in and she goes to get out.  I jump out to help her but she is a stubborn thing.  Brick stays in the car as we both go inside.  I let her look around to find what she wants.  I watch as she picks up a bag of hot Cheetos and cream cheese.  What the actual fuck?  She walks over and grabs her some apple juice.  I pick up some chips and salsa for Brick and me to eat while watching the fight on TV tonight.  I grab us some beer too.  I head up to pay for the items when Penny stops and look at the fruit bowls.  I smile and picked up the watermelon one she was eyeing.  She then hugged me from the side.  It's the little things that excites her.  We make it home and she goes to the room to change while I put up our stuff.  I grab Brick's medicine and take it to him.  I see he is about to doze off on the couch.  He takes it then looks up at me as if he wants to ask me something.  I stand there for a minute but he doesn't say anything.  I go to my room to change into a pair of shorts before we sit down for the fight.  I see I have a message from Cherise.  I read it and find out that Penny birthday is in three days.  Cherise wants us all to go out for a diner for her.  I go back into the living room to talk to Brick but he is asleep.  I make a mental note to make sure we get a cake and her a present. 

     I wait until it's about fifteen minutes until the fight before I wake up Brick.  He sits up and I go gather our snacks.  I take my seat with my beer and look into Penny's room to see that she is still napping.  So it's a perfect time to talk to Brick about her birthday.  I whisper to him "Brick, Cherise texted me to let me know it's Penny's birthday in three days so I figure we could get her a cake and some kind of present.  Cherise wants to have a dinner for her birthday too."  Brick looks over to where she is sleeping and asked "What do you think we need to buy her beside a huge ass jar of pickles?"  We both laugh at that because well she can eat pickles with just about anything.  We both decide to think about it for a while.  We settled in to watch the fight.  Penny woke up and watched the end of the fight with us.  She sat there eating her hot Cheetos dipping them into cream cheese.  She also eating sardines with ketchup.  That's some nasty shit right there.  I see Brick look over to me with disgust.  I laugh at his facial expression.  Penny looks at me and ask "What's funny Tank?  I want to know!"  I pat her on her head and answer "Nothing sweetie nothing at all." 

     It's in the middle of the night when I hear noise out in the living room.  I get up to go check on Brick.  I walk in to see that he is not there.  I walk toward the bathroom and see him standing outside the door.  I asked him "What's wrong Brick?"  He shakes his head then I hear Penny throwing up in the bathroom.  I try to go in but realize she has locked the door.  Brick says "She has been in there for a while but she won't let me come in."  I hear her crying now.  I knock on the door and ask her "Sweetie please open the door.  Do you want to go to the hospital?"  I hear the click of the door and I go in.  Brick is right behind me.  I see she has vomited all over herself.  I reach to pick her up but she pushing me back.  Brick reaches over and to turn on the shower.  Once it gets warm I manage to pick her up and I sit her down in the shower chair that Brick uses.  Brick goes to her room to get her some clean clothes.  I begin to wash her off while leaving her clothes on.  I try to help her remove them but she kept a firm grip on them.  Once she is clean I help her out while trying to dry her off.  I finally give up and say "Penny baby girl look you are sick and weak right now please allow me to  help you get into some clean clothes.  I promise you I will not do anything to you except help you."
