"Hi, I'm Y/N. I have a meeting with Jay Z." Y/N speaks as she looked around the Def Jam lobby.(He served as president during this time before he left in 2008) "Yes. He is in a meeting right now but you can head up and I will let his assistant know that you're here. He's on floor 17 and his office is at the very end of the hall on the left." The lady smiles at Y/N kindly. Y/N thanks her before making her way towards the elevator and lets out a breath as she walked onto it. Her hands shaking as she held her CD case in her hands. She knew he would want a live vocal audition but she was an overachiever and brought all the songs she produced and sang on.
Y/N jumped when her phone rang and put it out, flipping it open and smiling when she saw it was her girlfriend call. She answered and pressed the phone to her ear as she let out a shaky breath. "Hey" Y/N whispers as she steps off of the elevator and makes her way down the hall slowly, wanting to talk to her girlfriend. "I just wanted to call and tell you to calm down. You're gonna get signed and I love you. I believe in you and you are talented enough to do this." Jhené's voice calming Y/N instantly.
"Thank you I really needed to hear your voice." Y/N speaks. "Of course! You know I have to support my baby. We gotta make our album together and tour the world together." Jhené smiles as she could hear the chuckle that left Y/N's lips. "You know it baby. I'm going to do a couple of practices to ready my voice. Do you want to do them with me? You do a note and I'll match it." Y/N suggest. Instead of answering, Jhené clears her throat before she lets out a note. Y/N nods her head before copying it, following the note changes Jhené did.
Y/N stopped when she saw the assistant heading her way. "Let me call you back babe. I love you and I'll call you right after." Y/N says before she hangs up and stands, following the lady into the office. She tried to calm herself down when Jay Z stood and held his hand out for her to shake. Y/N quickly shook it and smiled the best she could without looking nervous.
"It's very nice to meet you sir. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to meet with me." Y/N speaks. Her voice shaky before she cleared it up at the end. "I've heard good things about you and so I had no choice but to see what you got. Mila told me that you have some songs you've produced and wrote on. One of them being Jhené Aiko's song Popular on her album that she's writing. I've heard the song and it's a really good song but not a few hits make you a star so I gotta know what you bring to the table for Def Jam." Jay Z says as he leans back in his chair as he looks at Y/N.
"You're right about a few hits not making you a star. I feel I can show you more than I can tell you. I brought a playlist of all the songs I have written, produced, and sang on. All of which are originals by me. I feel my voice will be something fresh at Def Jam and I think if you're willing to take that chance on me, I won't disappoint." Y/N explains as she hands over her CD case and smiles when Jay Z nods his head as he quickly inserts it and leans back as he waits for it to play. (Only going to add two songs but I'll make a playlist or something for y'all to check out.)
Y/N sits back as she looks over Jay Z's face, noticing the head nods as he listened to her music with a smile. Y/N was trying to hold back her smile but it was hard when she saw him break into a smile. "There could be a lot more like that if you give me chance. I'm here to work and I've been told I'm a really hard worker." Y/N could feel her ego growing as Jay replayed her album. "Sing along." Jay Z says as Miss Independent plays again. Y/N did as told and tried keeping herself from overthinking her voice.
"I think you've sold yourself pretty good with this list of songs here. Your voice is definitely something we could use here at Def Jam. Do you have a manager? A Lawyer? Anyone that manages you?" Jay Z asks. "No sir but I can have that covered in the next two weeks. I'm well educated to look over my own contract and I know someone that could manage me. He isn't with an agency but he will do amazing in the position." Y/N explains. "Good. I'll give you a copy of a contract I wrote up and I expect to see an Lawyer and a manager when we sign you." Jay Z smiles when Y/N shoots up and cheers to herself.
"I apologize but this is just something I've always wanted. My girl is gonna love this." Y/N cheeses as she shook Jay's hand again. "Who is your girl?" Jay asks. "Jhené Aiko... I hope that won't be a problem sir." Y/N says. She would drop this contract if it would interfere with her relationship. "That's not a problem but lets not let it interfere with your work or hers." Jay says before opened the door for Y/N and letting her leave the room. "It won't I promise. Thank you again and I promise you won't be disappointed in signing me." Y/N smiles. "I know it won't. Get that lawyer and manager. The faster you do that, the faster we can get you promo." Jay says before closing his door.
"I need to call my girl!"
