At first everything was black.

After a few seconds of deep breathes and slow stretching, I realized I was sitting on a patch of grass.

I looked around and saw a huge forest staring down at me.

I felt oddly calm.

It appeared to be the early morning (based off the color of the sky and the sun rising.)

I slowly got up and turned around; there was sand a few feet away from me and a body of water past it.

Despite being near water, I could not hear the sound of the waves.

Odd.

I decided to approach the beach as it felt safer than the forest, being it was an open area.

I walked at a slow pace, analyzing my upcoming surroundings.

As I walked, I realized I was barefoot.

I shook my head in confusion, wondering where my sneakers went.

Oh well.

I continued my walk towards the beach until I was inches away from the sand.

I gingerly placed my feet on the sand, starting with my right foot.

Strangely enough, the sand didn't feel like sand; it felt rough, similar to that of a rug.

Whatever my feet was resting on looked like sand, but didn't feel like it.

Despite the series of oddities experienced in a short span of time, I felt a surge of excitement and curiosity.

Where was I?

And where was everybody?

I felt like I was the only person within the vicinity.

I shrugged.

"Less questions, more exploring, Coy!," I chided softly to myself.

After taking a few tentative steps on the sand, I transitioned to a trot.

I felt light as a feather.

This feeling felt surreal as I don't recall a time feeling this light.

I felt like if I put my mind to it, I could jump to the clouds that were peering down at me, almost inviting me to join them.

And so, I did.

I jumped.

I jumped so high, and so suddenly, I was airborne for a brief moment before landing butt first on a fluffy white Cumulus cloud.

The jump was exhilarating, but also a bit dizzying. Surprisingly, the dizziness was only temporary and was replaced with a feeling of serenity.

I was surrounded by the deep blue of the sky and fellow Cumulus clouds floating lazily in the air; this felt nice.

I was so pleased with the jump, the law of gravity did not apply to me nor did I care enough to notice a lot about this place was off.

It felt dream-like.

...

Dream-like. Wait a minute.

Was this a dream?

And then reality hit me, hard, threatening to knock me off the cloud I was sitting on: I was dreaming!

This realization was equally shocking and exciting as I found a way to "escape" the confines of solitary confinement; I was able to temporarily leave a limited space and into this seemingly-limitless space with limitless possibilities.
