I woke up in a classroom. Upon closer inspection, it looked like I was crouched under a table pushed to the end of the room.
It was dark, quiet, and I was accompanied by a few creatures. One of them was a green, glowing humanoid, a darker green frog standing on two legs, a bear cub, and a nurse. They all looked at me in shock.
"Who in the world are you?," the bear whispered staring with awe at me.
I blinked. "Uh, my name is Coy; who are y'all?"
The frog put a finger to his mouth and gestured for me to stay silent.
Moments later he spoke. "Speak softly, stranger. We are being followed."
As if on cue, I heard snarling and footsteps approaching the closed door.
Goosebumps erupted on my skin.
The frog hissed for us to stay near him.
The door slammed open and 3 wolves entered. All were armed to the teeth in addition to having dagger-like teeth. Things weren't looking bright for us.
The wolves had cruel yellow eyes, snouts marked with scratch marks, and were all foaming heavily, probably seeing us as "good food."
*Since there's four of us and 3 of them, maybe one of us can get away,* I thought.
And then it hit me; I was dreaming! I recall the last place I was at was getting ready for bed and then falling asleep immediately. The fact that this felt so real must suggest either a vivid nightmare or truly a lucid dream. My heart soared with hope despite the wolves slowly approaching us.
All three wolves were lined up with their back facing the door, blocking the main escape route.
"At long last, we finally corner the infamous Gram and Glow" the wolf to our left said with malice. He was the smallest of the three, but held the largest sword.
"At long last indeed," the wolf to the right agreed, scanning each of us slowly. "Except it looks like we caught a few extras." He smacked his lips in anticipation. My stomach churned. He appeared to be slightly bigger than the smallest wolf, with a slightly smaller sword, but equally menacing.
"The bear and nurse are likely insignificant and aren't a threat," the middle wolf commented. This wolf was the biggest of the three with a mere dagger; not a good sign.
He then fixed his gaze on me. "You look human; what is your name?"
I was shaking hard, but managed to open my mouth before Gram spoke up, "Do not answer him," he commanded.
The middle wolf snarled with rage and launched himself at us.
Immediately, the frog took hold of anyone near him and we all shrank to the size of figurines. With most of us in his hands, he shot through the window nearest to us, barely missing snapping teeth.
The nurse looked up at us helplessly before being mercilessly devoured by the foul beasts.
I looked away.
The frog soared through the sky and expanded its vocal sac to the point where he started to float, similar to a hot air balloon.
And just like that, we were floating away from the school and into the night sky.

We flew in silence for a while, resting comfortably in Grams hands. It felt strange being this small. I did everything I could not to look down.
