The sudden waves of lights coming from beyond the tunnel was quite the contrast from the darkness of the sky tunnel. I closed my eyes in an attempt to block out the blinding lights.
As my eyes began to acclimate to the new environment, I noticed we were descending slowly, near the colossal tree. This only made the tree appear even larger than ever.
I gaped in awe at the mountain of a tree. If this was real, this would have been the largest tree ever recorded in the Book of Guinness Records, I thought.
And then I remembered I was still in my shrunken form. I turned my head to my left and saw Glow and Brobe chatting away.
We were all still sitting on Gram's gigantic palm looking expectantly at the ground.
Brobe caught my gaze and smile widely. "Isn't this so cool? You're going to love everything about our hideout."
I returned his smile and nodded. "I certainly hope so. This will be a unique experience for me."
Glow stared at me and said nothing. I squirmed in discomfort.
And in a matter of seconds, we touched grass.
I eagerly hopped off Grams hand and onto the grass.
A strong wave of relief rushed through me. It felt so good to be on ground again.
I looked around.
Besides the tree, everything else appeared...normal. Nothing out of the ordinary.
I was standing on a grassy field with a forest in the distance behind me. The forest was no where near as tall as the tree I would be soon entering. Or climbing. Who knows.
Before I could explore my thoughts further, Glow and Gram began to approach me with Brobe trailing behind. It looked like Gram shrunk to his normal size while I was fixated on my surroundings.
"What was your name, again?", Gram asked.
"My name is Coy," I replied, looking nervously at Glow. Glow narrowed his eyes at me.
"Glow!", Gram said exasperated, noticing our brief exchange.
"What do you want from me?", Glow growled.
"I already spoke with you earlier." I looked at Gram in confusion. "Telepathically," he added.
"I am well aware, Gram," Glow huffed. "You say we can trust the boy, but you're merely going off looks. I am sure he is up to no good." Glow glowered at me. I glared back at him, beginning to feel irritated by his attitude.
"You're partially right," Gram admitted. "However, you and I both know my ability to sense good and evil within many creatures, humans included. Do you not trust me after all the years we've worked together?" Gram crossed his arms and watched Glow.
Glow scowled at Gram. "I trust you, Gram," he said slowly. "You have proved to me of your allegiance to Team Dreality's cause—many times. And you are a reliable friend and partner."
Gram smiled.
"However, I also know you possess a lot more faith in humans than I, which can make you an open target for sinister beings." Glow gave me the side-eye. I rolled my eyes.
Glow was being a worry-wort. There was no way I possessed an iota of evil, unless overtaking a car at a school-zone counts as evil. I sighed.
Gram turned his glance towards me. "Coy," he began. "When I spoke with you earlier during our flight, I told you your energy felt warm and inviting. Do I have any reason to disregard my initial observation?"
