(AN: I bet you were thinking this was going to be dramatic, but no! Time for a filler chapter muahaha! -cough- Seriously though, wasn't sure whether to put this before or after the previous chapter, but it ended up here. I hope you'll still enjoy it despite the lowering of tension)
First Prince Alexis' Point of View
Judging by the sounds of rushing knights and soldiers, then Claudius and the saintess have returned.
It's a pity the windows in the prison all lead out behind the stables. If I could at least hear how the situation was going, that would make the isolation less painful... or at least give me something else to think about, than the betrayal of both of my childhood friends.
While I can't truly say I was completely surprised, seeing people you trusted leave your side when you need it the most, hurt more than I thought you would... both Liam and Theodore were always essentially loyal to someone else than me. Letting them stay by my side was my mistake... or perhaps, my mistake was forcing them into a situation, where they had no chance to abandon me, if they were to follow the intentions of their dear ones.
I sigh and lean back against the cold stone wall.
Liam is pragmatic. If it meant his family was kept alive and he retained power enough to keep a hand on power and influence, then he'd toss me away for better or worse. Ideals live on, even without a king figure-head. The only one he'd change that decision for is Henrietta.
Even if he can't fight, if it's for her, he'd die to save her.
As for Theodore... the moment his opponent was his brother, the choice had already been made for him...
"I wonder if Liam has told her yet... that Theodore could use his powers all along..."
After all, Liam was the one who peeled Theodore off of me when we were kids, after I messed up and actually managed to anger him.
I can't help but to wonder, when they'll tell me that they've finally found his body, or even just whatever could be left of it.
Theodore, are free now?
Henrietta's Point of View
I take a sip of the whiskey, and stare out at the courtyard.
I feel bitter.
Of course I stood to lose Sir Matty to the temple even if he survived, since Dame Dorsia couldn't convince him to marry her, but losing him like this is still aggrieving. To see him suffer to that extent as well, makes my stomach turn at the thought, that they'll have to leave him in such a situation for days.
Apparently he protected Priestess Alice while she was trying to heal someone, and got ripped apart.
The thought that Claudius is counting on me to deal with the drop in morale from this agitates me even more. Mia's state of mind kept deteriorating through the journey home as well, so even if I want to ask her to deal with the triage tent, I'm worried she might crumble soon from the pressure, like a cookie in water.
I knew she was focusing a lot of Seid's blessing, since her plans with Rosalin haven't been working quite as she wants them to. I'm sure she wants us to at least partly abandon her for Rosalin, because her eagerness when Asten distanced himself from her after talking with Rosalin, spoke wonders... but Mia... that's a very dangerous game to play.
No, it's possible that Mia knows that Rosalin is a necromancer. After all, she's the one that told us Rosalin was coming, even if she got the name wrong. If Mia knows, then exposing Rosalin, might work to not just negate anything negative Rosalin has said about Mia, but also to an extent put stupid people's guard up against others with the same attitude.
