Even though people have never been Kenma's go-to, Kuroo made sure he at least had a few people he could talk to and rely on. He wished that was still the case, but he hadn't talked to anyone in the last two weeks. The only person he wanted to talk to wasn't around anymore.
"Kenma, you should totally come hang out with me tomorrow."
"Why."
"Just thought it might be nice," Kuroo paused, before adding in a whisper, "There'll be video games."
Kenma knew there was nothing he could do to avoid this. So he happily went along.
What he didn't know was that there would be other people besides the two of them. Kenma hated not knowing when other people would be present. He liked Kuroo, he was comfortable around Kuroo. Everyone else came second. He sighed as he sat awkwardly on the couch, watching as Kuroo talked heartily to a guy and a girl he assumed were from Karasuno's volleyball club.
He felt so out of place with the beautiful, raven haired girl and the tall blond with glasses in the room. He stared at his hands, folded rigidly in his lap. He wanted to be anywhere other than there at that moment.
"Yeah, socializing isn't his favorite thing either. I was hoping you might get along with him because of that. Just a little crazy idea of mine," Kuroo chuckled to the other two guests in the house.
Kenma jumped at the words spoken. He braced himself for the painful awkwardness he was about to go through.
"I was worried this would be a wild ass party, but you've definitely given me a tiny bit of faith in your personality," the blond groaned.
"I honestly don't mind at all. Kenma seems like a calm individual," the pretty girl sounded happy to oblige.
Kenma watched with slight horror as the group moved to join him, with Kuroo sitting right next to him on the couch. But as Kuroo encouraged more conversation, the more Kenma realized how much he enjoyed talking to his new acquaintances, which he would later know as Tsukishima and Kiyoko.
