Brad POV:

I've just gotten back from the airport where I was meant to be picking up Dusty but I guess he missed his flight or something. There was this one guy who I was almost certain was him but he said he wasn't. It's gonna really upset the kids that he never turned up.

As soon as I step out of the car, Sarah runs up to me and tells me how Dusty got there a couple hours ago. The same couple of hours that I spent waiting for him at the airport. Well that's a pile of doody.

We both walk back into the house and see Megan and Dylan sat on the couch with the same guy who walked right past me at the airport standing over them telling a story.

"You like that story? It's all true. Hey! Who wants some more starbursts and a couple of uncirculated silver dollars?" Dusty reaches into his pockets and took the items out. Really? Candy? This late at night?

"So you are Dusty." I say trying to sound tough. Definitely worked.

"I sure am. You must be the new and improved husband. Bring it in big guns." He says bringing me in for a hug. Definitely awkward.

"I already met you at the airport." I say, trying to convey how annoying it was that he just walked past me.

"Yeah I'm real sorry about that. Truth it, I saw you before you saw me and I'm thinking, 'this is the guy who's raising my kids?. And damn it if he doesn't look like the real deal.' I mean look at you. You figured it out didn't you? You cracked the code." He says. "So you can understand why I panicked at the airport. I froze Brad. I'm sorry." Dusty apologises, sounding sincere.

"It's fine. These are tricky waters to navigate." I say, trying to seem my usual friendly self. I guess I am pretty amazing.

"They sure are man. I mean, that is insightful. You know, I thought it was weird Sara didn't tell me about you. I thought, what's she hiding? And now I know. A champion." Dusty pats my shoulder and my knees nearly buckle. Holy moley is he strong.

"Brad. Rosie just text. She's wants a ride home from the skatepark." Sara says looking down at her phone.

"Why don't I go meet her on my bike?" Dusty offers. Making Sara look up and the two of us look at each other.

"Oh...umm...is that safe? I mean, your bike doesn't have any seatbelts or...or walls?" I ask nervously.

"Oh don't worry Brad. It's completely safe. I used to take her for little rides on it all the time." Dusty says casually.

"Don't worry Brad. Dusty is actually a really good rider- bike rider- rider off- motorcyclist." Sara stutters over herself, going very red in the cheeks.

"One time when she was about three, she was holding on to the handles and she accidentally turned the throttle. Man, her face when we started going twice the speed down that hill. She loved it." Dusty laughs but my face drops in horror. Well that's a terrifying image. I look at Sara in disbelief that she let that happen.

"Ok I didn't know about that." Sara says, also in shock that that happened. "Just, be safe and don't let her touch anything that could kill you both." She finishes. Dusty nods his head before grabbing his jacket and leaving. Was this such a good idea?

Rosie POV:

Sitting on a low wall, I'm waiting for someone to turn up. Mum or Brad, I don't really care. It is freezing and I did not dress correctly for this evening's weather.

As I'm pulling out my phone to call one of them again, the sound of a motorbike gets louder and louder. Looking up, I see a very familiar motorbike pulling up at the curb.

Oh my god. He actually came. Dad climbs off before standing in front of it. Neither of us says anything for a second.

It's actually shocking to see him after all this time. All these feelings I thought I would have at seeing my Dad again all come at once. I'm angry that it took him this long to do more than a phone call but at the same I'm really happy to see him. Dad's the one that breaks the staring contest between us.

"Hey RJ." He says with the same goofy smile Mum says I have. Little bit rude if I do say so myself.

"Hey Dad." I say as I get up from my very uncomfortable place on the wall. I quickly walk towards him and he wraps his arms around me in a hug. It's not as awkward as I thought it would be. I don't know how long we've been standing there hugging but I have to let go cause I can feel my ribs cracking.

"Geez. You're freezing." He says as he takes of his jacket. He basically forces it on me and it is actually very cosy. "So, I guess we gotta get home before your Mum and Brad worry even more." Dad wraps his arm round my shoulder and we walk towards his bike. Oh I have missed this bike. One of the last conversations I had with Dad was trying to convince him to give me the bike. Can't remember exactly how it ended.

"Wait, they actually said yes to me riding on her? Did Brad give you the whole 'oh, uh, I don't know about that. What's about you pick her up on a magic unicorn instead? That's much safer so she doesn't bang her little noggin'?" I ask in disbelief. Obviously I did my best impression of Brad on his part. My spot on impression makes Dad laugh as he helps me climb onto the bike.

"He tried to but I left before he could. I know what I'm doing." Dad says climbing on. I wrap my arms around his stomach, with my board laying flat between us. Dad starts the bike and rides a lot slower than I remember we used to.

"Can I pull the throttle?" I ask hopefully.

"No way RJ. You nearly made us crash when you did it the first time. And everytime after that when I let you." He says, this time making me laugh.

He he.
