Camden

I was now on my way to the cafeteria, I'm so glad that most of my classes are done for the day, I'm exhausted, and then I don't even want to talk about basketball practice I have after school.

At least Sofia is going to be there with cheerleading practice...

I groan and mentally slapped myself, how can one person invade me so whole, and she doesn't even know it.

I walked into the cafeteria and saw all my friends at our original table. I went over and took my seat next to Sofia.

"Hey stranger." Noah said with a goofy smile, I chuckled at his face expression. "Why are you late?" This time it's Caden.

I groan. "Mrs. Stone held me back after class, I had to help her to put a file back on the rack, which she could reach by the way." I mumble the last part under my breath. Sabrina let out a snort. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you that she has a damn crush on you." I cringe at the fact.

Mrs. Stone does indeed have a crush on me, she would always look at me a certain way, give me winks here and there, I shudder at the thought.

Mrs. Stone is maybe in her late forties, she isn't bad looking but she's married and that fact that she flirts with an eighteen year old student doesn't sit well with me.

Our friend group isn't exactly big, me and Sofia met in kindergarten, and was like two peas in a pod ever since. We met Noah in first grade since he was the new student at school, he was the shy type and didn't talk much, so me and Sofia immediately introduced ourselves and he sticked with us ever since then.

Sofia met Sabrina in fourth grade when I was absent from breaking my leg, Sabrina is more close friends with Sofia than me, but that doesn't bother me.

And then we met the twins, Caden and Max in eight grade, at first we thought they were trouble makers with their tattoos and dark clothes that they were wearing, but once we got to know each other we were completely wrong.

Don't judge a book by its cover...

That's what Sofia told me after I told her that the twins look like fuckboys but they're actually the sweetest.

Max and Caden also loves to ride bikes and to do races now and then, and there's where we bonded, the twins and I will go to a race track to race and it's never been a dull moment.

Only Caden knows about my crush on Sofia, since I'm closer to him than Max and the others. He would tease me about it, and usually it would make me irritated.

Noah also plays basketball, he's co-captain and I'm captain. Nobody in this school cares that a girl is on the boys basketball team, I have the height, the strength and I'm awfully good. At first I thought everyone would have a problem with me on the team, but my teammates didn't care and welcomed me with open arms, even Coach Wilson.

"Bad boy is now making his way to our table, I repeat bad boy is making his way to our table." Max said in a hushed whisper and Sabrina groaned and slapped the back of his head. "We can see that dipshit." He pouts and rubbed the back of his head where she slapped.

I can only shake my head in amusement. I turn my head to look at Sofia and guess what, her eyes are already on the bad boy.

My blood boils at the sight of her being so smitten about the boy.

Mateo Hart, the captain of the football team, and the bad boy of this school. All the girls in school drools over him, and he loves it. He loves the attention that he gets, hell he even enjoys the attention from some of the boys that's gay.

Sofia has a crush on him since last year, when she told me, my heart shattered in million little pieces. How can she like someone like that. That will not only break her heart, but will ghost her once he got what he wanted.

"Hey gorgeous." Came his deep voice. I clenched my jaw when I saw Sofia smile sweetly at him. What is he even doing here at our table.

Caden gives me a sympathetic smile and I puff my cheeks out and huff.

"Hi Mateo." Sofia said with a small giggle and I cross my arms in front of my chest.

My appetite suddenly disappeared...

I push my food away from me, I can feel my face flush hot from anger.

"I'm having a party after Friday's basketball game, you and your friends are welcome to come." He said with a smirk, and I almost throw up in my mouth at the sight.

Seriously how can girls and boys find that sight attractive in the slightest.

"Sure, what do you guys say?" Sofia says, looking around the table at us, when she looked at me I gave her a fake smile.

"We'll be there." Max said with a grin, of course, he loves parties.

"See you then, beautiful." Mateo gave Sofia a wink and walked away, I can see the blush deepens on her cheeks and that make my blood boil even more.

Why can't I be the one that make her blush like that...

"I can't believe he invited us to one of his parties, since he's only invites certain people." Noah said which made me frown in realisation.

It's true, all the parties Mateo throws are only for certain people at school, like the popular kids, but this is the first time he invited us himself, he always have his jock buddies to the job for him.

Weird...

"Maybe because he wants a certain someone there." Sabrina said with a smirk, wiggling her eyebrows at Sofia, I watch as Sofia's blush deepened and I wish I could slam my head against a brick wall at the sight of my crush blushing for someone else.

"Stop it, he doesn't like me like that." Sofia's voice went a little too high and everyone burst out laughing except me.

I don't find this funny at all, I despise it.

How can Sofia be so damn blind, the person who will worship the ground she walks on is literally sitting right next to her, but yet she doesn't see it.

Because she doesn't see you that way a voice in my head say, shut up.

I'm seriously going crazy, taking to myself in my head.

This is going to be a long year.
