"Not good," I said.
"Is that-"
"Yup."
Suddenly, death eaters started flying through the castle attacking students.
"Grace!" I heard a voice say. I turned to see Harry.
"Harry! What is it?"
"The room of requirement," he said. "Find Ron and Hermione and tell them to meet me in the room of requirement. They'll be on their way back from the chamber of secrets, it's in the girl's bathroom with Moaning Myrtle. The room of requirement. It's where the diadem is."
"Got it," I said. "Come on, Jane!"
"What's the room of requirement?" she asked.
"God, I have so much to tell you," I said.
We weren't sure exactly where Ron and Hermione would be, but we headed to the girls bathroom and managed to catch them, soaking wet, wandering down a hall with the Marauder's Map.
"Ron! Hermione!" I said running toward them.
"Grace!" Hermione said. "And...Jane?"
"She's cool," I said.
"We're looking for Harry but he's just disappeared on the map," Ron said.
"That is the coolest map I've ever seen," Jane said. "Harry told us to tell you he's going to the room of requirement."
"Of course," Ron said. "It doesn't show up on the map."
"Brilliant," Hermione said. "Thanks."
"And Hermione," I said, stopping her from walking away. "If he's there...if they're both there," I said, glancing at Jane. Hermione looked at Ron.
"I hate being a good person," he said. "Fine. Whatever."
With the promise that Draco and Blaise were safe, Jane and I returned to active battle. It was sheer madness. Dementors running loose, death eaters at every turn, giants, massive spiders, everything you could imagine. After a little while, we ran into Draco and Blaise.
"What are you doing here?" Blaise asked Jane, kissing her aggressively.
"Don't I look so cool?" she asked.
"Jane, you need to go to the common room," he said. "You shouldn't be fighting. It's complicated."
"She knows, Blaise," I said.
"She knows?" Blaise asked Draco, pointing to me.
"It's kind of all her fault actually," Draco said.
"I'm really confused right now," Blaise said.
"You're not fighting with Voldemort, are you?" Jane asked Blaise.
"I was only helping Draco with his assignment," Blaise said. "I'm not on anyone's side."
"Ok, well now you can be on my side," Jane said.
"Grace," Draco said. "I need you."
"What is it?" I asked.
"We need to see the dark lord," he said. "We need to go to him together and prove our loyalty. Offer our services."
"I don't want to offer my services," I said. "It's an act, Draco. I don't want to actually go through with anything."
"I know," he said. "But he'll be expecting us. Father said we'd go see him."
