Laenora couldn't help but let out a soft laugh as she heard her sisters comment to another old lord. Who had wished to wed Rhaenyra or even her if he had been lucky enough. But just as every suitor that threw themselfs at the two Targaryen princesses, he had been rejected.
Laenora had accompanied her elder sister to dragonstone almost two moons ago. Not for her to be wed off but for her to try to claim a dragon.
She had also hated the idea of being alone in kings landing with her father and his lady wife. As soon as they had arrived on Dragonstone, she had found out that her younger cousin Laena, Had claimed the largest and oldest living dragon.
Laena had claimed Vhagar out of all of the dragons and Laenora remained dragonless. She had tried many times over the two moons to claim a dragon and yet every time she would fail or be caught by Rhaenyra.
So as of now she had fully given up on the idea of ever claiming a dragon.
When she finally returned her attention to her sister it was because she had heard the sound of two swords drawing. Within seconds she was being pulled away from the scene by her sister sworn protector ser Cole.
She didn't hate the man. But there were other knights she liked better. One she planned to seek out the minute she returned to king's landing.
As soon as they were away from the scene her sister stopped and turned to her muttering one sentence "we're returning to kingslanding"
************************************
"Father isn't going to be happy" Laenora stated as she joined her sister at the side of the ship "He wished for you to bed betrothed, before we returned"
"Like you wished to have a dragon" She muttered back as she turned to her younger sister "You should be happy that we are returning"
"Why's that"
"This knight you keep going on about" Rhaenyra changes the subject "Who is he"
"H-" Before she even get her words out the ship is hit by something Laenora should have seen coming, a bloody dragon.
Laenora quickly grips the ships side as Rhaenyra hits her head. But just as quickly as she had gripped the ships side she let's go.
Her eyes going onto the red dragon she nor Rhaenyra had seen in three years.
Her uncle had returned from war.************************************
"Why do you think he's back?" Laenora whispered as she followed her sister to the throne room. As they both entered their eyes went to the big crowd of people awaiting their prince's return.
"Perhaps to gloat" Rhaenyar finally replied as she entered the crowd, Laenora trailing behind her like she always did. As they did, their uncle finally walked in.
As Daemon walked up to the iron throne both nieces followed behind in the crowd to his right.
Laenora stopped as Rhaenyra went further into the crowd wanting to get a better look at the scene."Add it to the chair" Daemon spoke up, throwing his weapon to the ground.
"You wear a crown, do you also call yourself king" Laenora heard her father ask her uncle. She wondered if he knew they had returned at the sametime as their uncle.
"Once we smashed the Triarchy, they named me King of the Narrow Sea." Daemon stated "But I know that there is only one true king, Your Grace."
That was something that surprised the Targaryen sisters. Their uncle had only ever done something if it annoyed their father. He had never done anything nice for the king in years.
"My crown and the Stepstones are yours."
"Where is Lord Corlys?"
"He sailed home to Driftmark."
"Who holds the Stepstones?"
"The tides... the crabs, and 2,000 dead Triarchy corsairs, staked to the sand to warn those who might follow."
As Laenora watched her father walk down the steps she knew Daemon was here to stay as long as he followed the rules. But almost every time that had happened he was sent back to the vale. Sent back to his wife.
************************************
Laenora had no idea how long she had been standing with her father for. But she did know she could hardly bare hearing her father and uncle talk. She could hardly bare being around the two men who had not only made her sister upset. But both of them had insulted Alicent in some sort of way.
It wasn't like she was supposed to care. But she truly did, Alicent was her half siblings mother. So the second she saw her sister get up and leave there stepmother. She walked away from her father and joined her.
"Your grace" Laenora bowed her head before sitting down.
"Laenora" Alicent greeted the younger girl "Rhaenyra has told me about dragonstone"
"What of it, the many suitors she declined or the fact my father is angry with her"
"The fact you were nearly killed"
Laenora holds back a scoff as she turns to her "That has nothing to do with you"
"You shouldn't risk your life for one of those beasts"
"Yet I'm the only dragonless Targaryen"
"Helaena has no dragon"
"For now, I've tried to claim almost every dragon wild or not" Laenora sighs changing the subject "How is Helaena and Aegon"
"Fine, although my father seems to think I should be with them all the time"
"Why aren't you"
"My brother is here for a few days and Id like to spend time with him"
"Ser Gwayne is here"
Alicent nods as Laenora stands up "Where on earth are you going?"
"To find my sister and uncle" Laenora lied making her way to the one place she could hide away in.
************************************
Laenora entered the godswood and to her surprise Rhaenyra wasn't there. Although it wasn't really a surprise, not when she was looking for someone else.
As she walked to the tree she sighed knowing there was no one but her there. Well at least she had thought until she heard her uncle speak up.
"Your sister just left"
Laenora quickly turned around almost jumping as her eyes landed on the one person she didn't want to see "Uncle"
"Who are you waiting for my dear niece"
An- We all know who Laenora wanted to see.....
Also what dragon should she claim in the future?
