Laenora had spent the start of her morning alone in her chambers. Thinking about her conversation with Gwayne the night before.

She wondered if she truly should try to claim another dragon. Then she wondered if she should ask her father if Gwayne could be her knight.

Like Criston, Cole was chosen By Rhaenyra. But then again Gwayne was alicents sister, he was the queen sister.

They could never wed. Nor could she confess to anyone how she felt about the Hightower

Laenora was ready to try to sleep again or even just hide away in her chambers all day. Yesterday she was happy being back home. Now she wanted to return to dragonstone with Gwayne following behind.

She wanted to wed the man she loved and then she wanted to finally claim a dragon. Prove she was a true Targaryen like her half siblings and her elder sister.

Just as she was about to try get more sleep her doors open and the queen walks in.

Laenora furrows her brows. Alicent had never once been in her chambers let alone seeked her out at this time in the morning.

"Your grace" Laenora muttered as Alicent waited for the doors to close.

"Laenora, what happened last night?" Alicent asked her youngest stepdaughter. Hoping she'd know more than Rhaenyra did.

But Laenora got even more confused. How did Alicent know about her and Gwayne.

"I-"

"What happened between Rhaenyra and daemon"

Laenora immediately stands up "What did you just say"

"You don't know," Alicent muttered, taken back. As she knew Rhaenyra and Laenora told each other everything "Your sister and uncle were caught in the town together, late last night"

"What lies are you accusing my sister of, your grace"

"They were seen at a brothel"

Laenora scoffed not believing her sister would do such a foolish thing. Her uncle yes but not Rhaenyra.

"Laenora I swear it is true"

"I swear on my anything, that Rhaenyra would do no such thing"

"Then why is your father planning to give you to to prince Daemon"

"You lie, my uncle is married to the lady Rhea Royce"

"And yet Daemons fled for the vale. you truly think he shall stay married for long"

"You may be queen" Laenora pauses "Consort, but I will not believe such lies"

Within seconds Laenora is rushing out her room and making her way to the kings chambers.

************************************

Laenora had first gone to the king's chambers but he was nowhere in sight. So she found herself walking to the council chambers, knowing the king would be there.

She rushes past the guards and enters the council chambers to find her father standing and looking out of the window.

"Uncle Daemon has a wife" She spoke up first making her presence known to the king "I won't marry let alone marry him"

Viserys sighs, he had already dealt with his eldest daughter and now he had to deal with Laenora.

"I have sent a raven to lady Rhea, offering her a-"

"I still won't marry him" She snaps "Especially if what Alicent says is true"

"Alicent?"

"She says Rhaenyra went to a brothel with uncle Daemon" She pauses "Its true"

"Laenora"

"You wont give him Rhaenyra or the throne. But you would hand me over to him, like some second prize"

"It's my duty to keep our line safe"

"You think he's a threat"

"Your sister will wed Ser Laenor Velaryon and you will wed your uncle. If Lady Rhea accepts the offer I sent her"

Laenora looks at her father as she takes a step back, in disbelief that he was going to wed both her and Rhaenyra to men they didn't truly know.

"What of love"

"It is your duty"

"You loved my mother did you not or was that just duty as well"

Viserys goes to answer but before he can Laenora walks away and out the council chambers. The king now had only one more thing to do and that was  getting a new lord hand.

************************************

Laenora wore a cloak as she walked into the courtyard, the rain was heavy and somewhat beautiful. She couldn't help but imagine what it was like in the storm's end, practically isolated and unreachable when the heavy storm approached.

As the rain got heavier and the sky got darker. Laenora went to make her way inside the castle but stopped when her eyes landed on the Hightower knight, sorting his horse.

She didn't want to know why Gwayne was sorting his horse but she was going to ask. He had said the night before, he would be at least a few more days.

She quickly made her way over to him and let out a soft cough "Gwayne"

Gwayne immediately turned around and his face softened at her voice "Princess"

"Have you just returned from a ride, I would have joined i-"

He cut her off "Laenora"

"Your leaving, why"

"It would seem the king has gotten a new lord hand"

"My father w-" She stops herself not believing that anymore "The king would"

"My sister has told me about your betrothment"

"It won't happen Gwayne, i won't let it"

"The prince is married that I know, but there is no way out of a royal marriage"

"Ask my uncles wife about that" She muttered as her eyes met his "Tell me you'll return, I shall find some way to get out of the marriage"

"Laenora"

"I love you" She whispered as he kissed her cheek.

"As i you" He whispered back "My father awaits"

"I swear I'll sort it"

"Just as I know you will claim a dragon one day"

"Goodbye Ser Gwayne" She muttered as she walked away leaving the man to meet his father.
