moonbyul had been counting every minute ever since riki had asked her to hang out earlier, when he mentioned he had something important he wanted to talk about, her mind had been racing with all the potential possibilities of what it could be.

it was around 5 pm and the sun was slowly beginning to set and riki had gotten out of his room already. he was nervous, too nervous, his usual cool demeanor was hard to keep up when his heart was beating erratically in his chest, like a bird was trapped in his ribcage and it was beating itself to death.

he walks down the hallway unhurriedly, towards the rooftop. a mischievous smirk makes its way on his face when he spots someone familiar in the halls—someone he was not pleased to see. riki confidently walks past JJ, purposefully bumping him with his shoulder as hard as he could. he even turns to look back at him with a full grin, knowing that JJ, no matter how angry he made him, would never dare defy him again.

he had successfully accomplished his mission.
he had what JJ could never have.
Rome— her.

the expression on riki's face is a satisfied one as he finally reaches the rooftop, although an uneasy feeling begins to set on the pit of his stomach once more. the rooftop was quiet and the sun cast a golden hue on everything, creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. he stood near the edge where moonbyul usually did, hands stuffed in his pockets.

moonbyul stands behind the door that led outside on the rooftop, counting to ten in her head before pulling the door handle down and stepping outside. wind blows through her hair gently and she takes a deep breath, hesitantly walking towards riki.

"riki?" she calls out softly, her voice breaking the silence. riki turns around, stepping off the edge of the building. "hey moonbyul" the words hung heavy in the air, the atmosphere crackling with tension. moonbyul's stomach twists with anticipation, her heart drumming in her ears.

"is everything okay?" she asks, trying to read his face. riki takes a couple of steps towards moonbyul, stopping in front of her. now he was much closer, too close, towering over her, tall and handsome, his proximity intimidating.

riki remains silent for longer than he should've, smitten by the way the sun kissed her skin, how her hair gleamed with rich warm undertones, her deep brown eyes looking like pools of honey under the last golden rays of the day.

finally he takes a deep breath, his eyes flickering over to ground, moonbyul wasn't sure how much more of this tension she could take, the air weighing on her with unspoken thoughts. "everything is alright" riki reassured "i just needed to talk to you about something" he looks back up at her. his voice was steady, but the way his hands were shaking hinted at his unease.

the fact that he was nervous was making moonbyul nervous.

"what's up?" moonbyul asks, slightly more agitated now that she was sensing his hesitation. riki shifts his weight uncomfortably, letting go of a trembling breath. he had practiced this moment by himself in his room, and he didn't remember it being this difficult. now that moonbyul was in front of him, he could barely breathe, let alone speak.
