the rain drummed against the pavement outside, creating a symphony of soft thuds that filled the air with a refreshing scent of earth. riki and moonbyul stumbled into his dorm room, both of them utterly soaked, water dripping from their hair and clinging to their clothes. the cold air sent shivers down their spines.

"you're a mess," riki teased, trying to inject some lightness into the moment as he ran a hand through his damp hair, slicking it back. he couldn't help but admire how perfect she looked, even in her disheveled state, with her clothes soaked and her usually neat hair all messy.

moonbyul rolled her eyes, a smile breaking through her initial embarrassment. "thanks, riki. you're one to talk." her voice was playful, and a stupid blush spread on his cheeks when he heard his name roll off her tongue, it felt like forever since the last time he had heard it.

he chuckled softly, moving toward the bathroom to grab a towel. "let me help you." riki approached her, gingerly taking the bow she had on out of her hair before he gently started drying it, the plush towel absorbing the moisture as he worked through the strands. he grabs the blow drier, meticulously running the brush through her locks simultaneously, drying them perfectly straight like they usually were.

the warm air falling on her neck makes moonbyul shiver, the texture of her wet clothes was becoming incredibly uncomfortable. after finishing with her hair, riki went to his closet and pulled out one of his oversized hoodies and a pair of pijama pants, which moonbyul took with a giddy grin and headed to the bathroom.

riki chuckled softly, watching her waddle to change fondly. he eventually begun to dry himself as well, her momentary absence giving him an opportunity to think.
he nearly couldn't believe he almost lost her.
it was even more unbelievable that she was here now, walking out of his bathroom in his clothes.

"showstopper" he whistled when moonbyul walked out, and she immediately burst into laughter, hitting him with the sleeves of the hoodie which was obviously too big for her. he pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on top of her head.
"i missed you so much. . .my little rat" he deadpanned, grinning when he heard her laugh once more.

"rat? seriously?" she whined, playfully shoving him with her shoulder when a giggle left his mouth, the sound so precious she couldn't even be mad at him. "you're ridiculous." she huffed, crossing her arms.
"and yet, you're laughing," he replied, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "that's a win in my book."

as the initial laughter faded, moonbyul's expression softened. "thank you for taking care of me, riki," she said, her voice sincere as she gazed up at him.
"of course," he replied, his tone earnest. "after everything, i want to make sure you're okay." he felt a warmth spread through him as he held her close, caressing her head.

they settled onto the bed, the mattress creaking slightly under their weight. the atmosphere shifted, becoming thicker with unspoken words as they began to talk, the tension from their argument weeks ago slowly dissipating. they sorted things out, shared stories, laughter echoing off the walls of the small room, the previous uncertainty melting away like the rain outside.
