The familiar figure of a butterfly-wasp gilded silently through the air on its delicate wings of glass. The animal navigated its way across the sullen atmosphere of the island, slipping through jagged rock formations that jutted like the teeth of a shirshu and weaving through the tangled vines that shocked the forests. The creature darted inside a cave where the walls simmered with a lustrous mauve that whirled in various directions, and the runic glows that coated the middle of the cave with an eerie glow. Kurai's arm emerged from the cluster of cloaked men and the animal nestled itself onto the gauntlet, whispering,
"The Avatar was last seen with the Rizhuan Tribe"
"Jair" The immediate call encouraged the runic patterns to shimmer, emitting rays of shadows to dance in a spiral that leapt up towards the ceiling of the cave. Jair's figure formed from the shadows that swayed around his phantomic figure.
"Yes, master," Jair replied, his voice a mere murmur of obedience.
"Send the Witherens to the Rizhuan Village – I've received word that the Avatar may be hiding there" Kurai commanded, his tone a low, gravelly rumble.
As you command, master." Jair's words were barely spoken before the shadows collapsed inward, retreating into the runes etched into the cave walls.
Kurai watched as the shadows stirred back into their runes, leaving the cave to be bathed in the magenta glow of the runes. Rizhuan Village... not a bad place to blend in, but not good enough for the butterfly-wasp to pinpoint her exact location.

Daiyu rested in Zara's house while Hanno recovered from the fatal gash on his abdomen. The wound steadily knotted the skin together, leaving only a crimson bruise to replace the blood that once flowed out of it. Neither Daiyu or Hanno communicated with each other, for it was his wrath and her presence that promoted silence between them, while the deafening rage still boiling in Hanno's blood screamed. Overtime, Ren's hatred for Daiyu descended low enough for the two to engage in a small conversation – and despite mentoring Siya, there was no doubt the feeling of discomfort around Daiyu lingered in the gleam of her innocent eyes.
It was nearing twilight – the sun had sunk below the horizon, allowing the sky to succumb to a pastel purple, with subtle streaks of blue and pink smothering across the canvas. Zara stood near the stove where the orange flames danced in the air and licked the base of the boiling pot. She squatted down, her hands brimmed with dry logs that weight sunk into her skin – one by one she tossed the oak into the fire, gazing absently as the flames were provoked into a mesmerising display of light that twisted and leapt with vibrant intensity. Daiyu could only watch from the counter, momentarily pausing from the fine slices of potato she carved with the kitchen knife wrapped within her compressed grip. She turned her head away from the dancing flames and continued intricately severing the potato into thin portions.
Maybe it was a mistake going to their house... Zara never should have invited me...
"Daiyu, are you finished with the potatoes?" She spoke. Daiyu whipped her head into a subtle nod and cupped the potatoes in hand, strolling over to the pot.
"Should I add them now?" Daiyu asked, waiting for the mother's signal. Zara simply nodded, a faint smile that barely carved her face formed. She dumped the slices into the stew and perched herself near the mother, stirring the substance until all chunks succumbed to the broth.
Maybe I should just tell them the truth...
Daiyu glanced at Zara, seeing the expression of turmoil cling to her face as she watched the fire cackle. Daiyu's lips seeped in some air, as her heart began to pound, for she would suffer the consequences once they've found out that the girl they invited lied to them all along.
