"Here you go."
Mrs. Walton says as she places the coffee in front of me and takes a seat.
"Thank you."
I say as I lock my phone and place it on the table.
She looks so pretty, but doesn't she always? She has on mascara, which makes her blue eyes more noticeable—unlike I can ever miss them. My eyes trail down to her soft pink lips, which have lip gloss on them—but just lightly. My eyes always find my way back to hers. I can't help but to always look at them.
"That's what I don't understand."
She says, frustrated.
"What is it that you don't understand?"
"You. I don't understand you."
She says with a sigh.
My head falls as I look in my lap and fidget with my fingers. I knew she didn't feel the same way.
"What does that mean?"
I finally asked, still playing with my fingers.
"When you look at me, I feel weird in my stomach. But then you have a girlfriend. But then you kissed me with so much passion. I don't understand."
I finally look up at her, and she looks out the window. She seems so stressed. I clench my jaw, thinking I'm why she feels so overwhelmed.
"Emily."
I say softly, and she looks over at me.
"Mia was never my girlfriend. She asked me to go along because she's having difficulty making friends. I only kissed you that night because you asked me to. But I don't regret doing it. I admit, I've wanted to kiss you for so long before that."
I say as I look at the table, scratching my neck.
"It does hurt that you think I would just attack someone, though."
I tell her as I shrug my shoulders, looking at her.
"I don't think you would. I just wanted to understand."
"There's better ways to understand things."
She lets out a deep breath and nods her head.
"I want to get to know you better."
I smile at her words.
"I would like that."
I respond to her, and she tucks her hair behind her ear and smiles at me. She's so beautiful.
"Andres."
She says, laughing.
"What?"
I chuckle with raised eyebrows.
"You're staring at me."
I just laughed and took a sip from the coffee she had given me.
"So, what's the plan for today?"
"What do you mean?"
She asked me.
"Well, considering you're not at work and I'm not at school, what are we doing today?"
"Oh, um."
She says, thinking.
"Wanna just go watch movies?"
I shake my head, considering I don't have the money to buy a ticket.
"I don't have money to buy a ticket."
