The sky is a pretty blue color. But not as pretty as Emily's ocean-blue eyes. I love looking at her eyes. They are so welcoming, so warm. I don't know what I love more: her smile, her eyes, her voice, or her laugh.
Just looking into her eyes, I feel like I know everything. The way she feels and what she's thinking. It's weird, but I feel like her eyes talk to me.
As the late bell rolls around, I groan, get off the grass, and head to the auditorium for theater. Today, we came up with a theme—it's biker-themed. Mr. Bonito said we'll start decorating the gym on Monday since the Dance is on Friday.
P.E. was next. Instead of going to the nurse's office to change, I just stayed in my current clothes.
In this unit, we are learning how to play volleyball. I sat out on the bench the whole class. Trying to get away from all the creepy boys talking about the girl's butts as they played. But unfortunately, I still can hear their comments from where I sit.
Coach blew his whistle, and I walked out of the gym and into the quad, heading for the main campus. Walking through the hallways, I heard yelling from a particular classroom.
I go down to the class and see Mrs. Walton's door open now.
It's her and Toby.
Again."Hey."
Mia says from behind me, startling me.
I put my finger to my lips to hush her and point to the room. She makes an 'oh' with her mouth and moves beside me. We peek inside the room, listening to their conversation.
"You need to tell him!"
Toby yells, and I tilt my head.
"You have things you're hiding as well!"
Emily yells back.
"But I'm not sleeping with him now, am I ?"
He fights back with a chuckle.
Emily glares at him.
"I'm not sleeping with him."
"Right. You just give him hickeys every now and then."
Emily opens her mouth but closes it right after.
"Tell him why your father was really in the hospital."
Mia pulls me away from the door and pushes me up against the lockers.
She looks at me with those hazel eyes. I give a sly smile.
I look down the hallway and see Toby walking out the door to the student parking lot.
Mia removes her arms and backs away.
I scratch my neck, feeling awkward and embarrassed about their conversation.
"Andrés?"
Mia calls out softly, and I look up at her.
"Yeah?"
"Are you okay?"
I shake my head, and she nods.
"Wanna go home?"
I shake my head again.
"I think ima stay here for a bit."
I tell her as I slide my back down the lockers until I'm sitting on the floor.
She sighs, and I look down at the floor, playing with my fingers.
"Okay, well, I'm going home. Just call me if anything happens, okay?"
I nod my head without looking back up at her.
