Present Day -- March 24, 2010

I walked behind Elena as Jeremy and Matt carefully dragged Jenna into the house. It took a while for the group to trust Damon and me, our running around murdering and scheming didn't help. After figuring out Katherine wasn't actually in the tomb, Damon freaked out. I tried my best to be there for him but I couldn't help much. Since then, we've had much trouble with her, she has been out in the world since she turned him and Stefan, and now she hated us all.

"Okay, stop fussing. I'm fine." Jenna said as Matt pulled her towards the living room couch. Katherine had forced her to stab herself and now I was their protection detail in case she tried anything again. To Jenna though, I was just Elena's worried friend.

"The doctor said to take it easy." Elena said kindly, rubbing her aunt's back. I had grown to like her, at first, I found her insufferably annoying, but now, she was bearable. I probably would've ripped her vocal cords out a while ago if it wasn't for Damon and his 'feelings'. Now, we were friends, I guess.

"You don't wanna rip your stitches, hemorrhage and die." I say with a smile, showing Jenna I was joking. Matt helped her lay on the couch, a groan leaving her lips as she got comfortable.

Elena walked to the kitchen, her hands full, flowers and a balloon in one hand, two bags in her other. Jeremy and I followed her slowly.

"What are we gonna do?" He asked as he stood across from his sister, the kitchen island between them. I stepped forward, leaning my elbows on the countertop as I listened.

"Make lunch," Elena said, clearly unaware of what Jeremy was asking about.

"About Katherine."

"We're no gonna do anything, Jeremy." She replied. For her aunt getting stabbed and breaking up with her boyfriend, she was surprisingly calm. She and Stefan had an epic romance, one that Katherine did not like. She threatened everyone Elena cared about, demanding the two end their relationship. They didn't listen, faking a break up which led to Jenna getting hurt. Now, their breakup was real.

"She tried to kill Jenna. We can't let her get away with that." Jeremy argued.

"Yes. If it keeps us safe, then we can." Elena said. She was right. From what I've learned of Katherine, retaliation and trickery don't end well.

"What if she tries something else?" I sigh as he asks the question. Was my presence unnoticeable?

"That's why I'm here." I said as I pushed myself off the counter. Their eyes fell on me and I smiled. "I'm the oldest, the strongest, no one's gonna hurt any of you." I may have been a little full of myself, my ego a little high, but I wasn't wrong. I was a hundred years older than Katherine and many more older than any of her worker bees.

"You're being naive and you know it." Jeremy scoffs as he begins to walk away. I was almost offended that he dismissed me.

"Where are you going?" Elena asked him.

"Out. Ill be back." He called out to Matt. I smiled at Elena sympathetically before I spoke.

"I gotta go too. Call if you need me." I said as I began to back away.

"Wait. You're supposed to protect us." She whispered, not wanting to notify the other humans.

"I doubt Katherine will try anything so soon. Damon needs me. If anything happens, call and I'll be here. I promise." I said before I left.
