We gathered in the living room, listening intently as Rose, Elena's kidnapper, shared what she knew about the impending threat. I couldn't help but feel uneasy about allowing her to remain, given that she had broken into the house just the previous night , claiming to have information about Niklaus's plans.

While I possessed a wealth of knowledge on the situation, I had decided to keep it to myself until necessary. Despite everything that had transpired, I still felt a deep connection to the Mikaelson family - they were a part of me, and I could never truly detach myself from them, no matter how much I wanted to at times.

"I only know what I've picked up over the years. And I don't know what's true and what's not true," Rose said as she paced in front of the fireplace. I sat on the couch to the right, Damon leaning behind me, Stefan on the couch across from me, and Elena perched on the middle cushion, her gaze fixed on the woman before us. "That's the problem with all of this crap vampire. But Klaus I know is real."

At the mention of Niklaus, I felt my heart race, knowing that the inevitable reveal of my connection to him was imminent.

"Who is he?" Elena asked, her voice laced with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.

"He's one of the originals. He's a legend," Damon interjected, his eyes shifting to meet mine, as if he was slowly piecing the puzzle together.

"The first generation of vampires," Stefan added, his tone carrying a hint of unease.

"Like Elijah?" Elena inquired, her brow furrowed in confusion.

"No. Elijah was the Easter bunny compared to Klaus," I sighed, pushing myself off the couch to stand beside Rose. I knew I could no longer keep this secret, as much as I had tried to protect it for decades.

"He's a foot soldier. Klaus is the real deal," Rose continued, her gaze flickering between me and the Salvatores.

"You know Klaus?" Stefan asked, his eyes narrowing as he studied my expression.

I paused, contemplating my words carefully. The time had come to reveal the truth, no matter how difficult it might be. "Klaus is a nickname. His full name is Niklaus..." I bit my lip, my anxiety building as I prepared to share the final piece of the puzzle. "I called him Nik."

Damon's jaw visibly dropped, the hurt evident in his eyes that I had kept this from him for so long. Stefan stepped forward, a hint of anger coloring his features. "Klaus is Nik, your husband?"

I nodded, my gaze sweeping across the four of them as the shock and confusion palpably filled the room.

"Okay, so you're saying that the oldest vampire in the history of time is coming for me? And he's your husband?" Elena asked, her eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and trepidation.

"Yes," Rose and I replied in unison.

"No," Stefan interjected, his voice firm.

"I'm not going to soften the blow, Niklaus is coming for you, and he won't stop until he has what he wants. But I will do everything in my power to keep you safe, I promise," I said, my resolve evident. I knew they might not trust me completely after I had withheld this information for so long, but I was determined to protect Elena, no matter the cost. For Damon.

I adjusted my position in the back of Rose's SUV as she continued to chat about Klaus, asking as many questions as I was willing to answer. Damon sat in the passenger seat, listening to what I had to say. I could tell he was troubled , as my continued lying seemed to have hurt him.

"You know, I heard stories of the woman Klaus loved..." Rose began, her curiosity evident. I tilted my head, intrigued by the tales she had heard. "The princess who became a monster. Is that you?"
