Part 7

The bullet hits Ks in her chest, right where the heart is.

Hm, Ps: Karuuuu/ Karu betiyaa.

Hm quickly grabs Ks in her hands as she starts falling down from the chair. She makes her sit properly, and taps on her cheeks. Blood comes from Ks mouth, which hm wipes immediately, but more blood keeps coming out.

Hm looks down towards the wound, to see that the bullet has hit an artery, because a lot of blood was coming out. Ps takes cotton from a container and starts staunching the blood. Here Vicky and the police officers grab the doctor and take him away.

Vicky: Haseena, hum log ambulance bulate hai. Tum tabtak Ks ke sath hi raho.

Ps: Mai kuch aur cheeze leke ati hu jisse yeh blood ruk jaye aur first aid de sake hum log.

Hm just nods to both, her attention totally on Ks.

Hm: Aankhain khuli rakhiye plz.

Ks: Ahh... dard ho raha hai Hasu.

Hm: Bas thoda time, kyu bachaya mujhe. Dekha kya haal hogaya hai apka.

Ks: (with difficulty) Apko toh abhi Anubhav sir se shadi karni hai, apki ammi, aabu, aur apke family apse pyaar krti hai Hasu.

Hm: Aur apka kya?

Ks: Humara hai hi kon. Mar bhi jayenge toh...

Hm: Chup rahiye. Kuch bhi mat boliye aap. Aur ankhain band nhi... khuli rakhiye...

Ks: Kya apko farak padega?

Hm was numb, she was not able to analyze the situation, her heart knew that she will die if Ks dies. But her mind was struck on Anubhav and her "so-called" love for him. Ps also entered and heard her question and Hm's response.

Ks waited for her answer for some time, and when Hm couldn't even meet her eyes, she knew the answer to her question. She turned her head away from Hm, and saw Ps, who was crying looking at her. Ks just gave her a small smile, her eyes already teary. Ps nodded no, and Ks just shrugged at her, and slowly closed her eyes.

Ps: Karu beta, aankhein kholo. Hm, ambulance dekh aayiye.

Before Hm can move, the ambulance people came there and took Ks and strapped her to the back of the ambulance. Hm wanted to travel with her, but Ps stopped her behind.

Hm: Hume jane dijiye unke sath.

Ps: Waha sirf family jati hai madam, aur Ks ki family exist nhi karti. (On the ward boys' question to whether anyone will join them) Nhi, aap aage nikal jayiye.

Hm: Hume, aap yeh kaise kar sakti hai. Karu ko humari jarurat hai.

Ps: Chaliye gaadi mai bathiye, peeche se jate hai.

Ps makes Hm sit with her in the car and they are driving towards the hospital.

Hm: Jaldi chalayiye na. Ektoh apne hume ambulance mai Ks ke sath jane nhi diya. 

Ps: Aur apko kyu jana tha? Family hai aap unki?

Hm: Hum wife hai Karu ki.

PS: Toh karu ne jab pucha ki apko unke jane pe farak padega kya, toh apne javab kyu nhi diya. Agar aaj Karu mar gayi, toh bhi akeli ghut ghut ke maregi, yeh sochte hue ki wo chahe apke liye khudki jaan dede pr aap unpe 1% bhi pyaar nhi karengi.

Hm: Hum nhi soch paa rahe the kuch bhi. Hum karu se bohot pyaar krte hai, pr dost jaise, naki biwi. Hum biwi bas Anubhav ki banna chahte hai.

Ps: Karu agar aaj maar...

Hm: Kya bol rahi hai aap. Jaban sambhal ke.

Ps: Wo bacchi bhi bas utna hi puch rahi thi. Ki uske jane se apko farak padega ki nhi. Wo apse pyaar nhi mang rahi thi, bus care chahti thi. Wo Anubhav ki jagah lena bhi nhi chahti, bus apka sath chahti hai.

Hm: Hum nhi de sakte unhe woh. Anubhav ko Karu nhi pasand, aur hum aisa kuch bhi nhi karenge jisse anu gussa kare.

Ps: Toh aap yaha kya kr rahi hai madam, ghar jaiye. Aram kijiye.

Hm: Hum chale jayenge, bas pata chalne dijiye ki woh thik hai. Aur aap kyu hai yaha. Ap bhi chale jaiye yaha se, karu ko apki jarurat nhi hai.

Ps just nods her head in desperation. Her words were not understood by Hm.

Ps: Barabr bol rahi hai app, karu ko hamari nhi apki jarurat hai. Pr afsos, wo bichari jis insaan se hopes leke baithi hai wo uss kabil hi nhi hai. Hum doctor ki baat sunke chale jayenge, bas ek advice dena chahte hai. Karu ki ehmiyat ko jaldi samaj lijiye, aisa na ho ki samay nikal jaye.

Hm doesn't say anything. She is confused about her feelings and overall situation.

They reach the hospital and both of them stand near the OT. Doctor comes out after 5 hrs.

Hm, Ps: Kaisi hai Karu?
