When Carina arrived at the penthouse, her heart sank as she found it eerily quiet and empty. She quickly checked every room, but there was no sign of Maya. Her anxiety was through the roof as she rushed to her phone to make another call, but just as she was about to dial, there was a firm knock at the door.
Carina's hands were shaking as she opened it to find a police officer standing on the other side. The officer's serious expression instantly made Carina's stomach drop.
"Mrs. DeLuca-Bishop?" the officer asked, his voice calm but firm.
"Yes, that's me. What's going on? Is Maya okay?" Carina asked, her voice trembling.
The officer took a deep breath before speaking. "I'm afraid I have some troubling news. There's been a serious car accident involving your wife. She was transported to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. I'm here to ensure you get the information you need and to offer any assistance you might require."
Carina's world seemed to spin as she processed the officer's words. "A car accident? Is she... is she okay?"
The officer's expression remained solemn. "I don't have detailed information about her condition, but I suggest you get to the hospital as soon as possible. They will be able to give you the most accurate and up-to-date information about her condition."
Carina's heart pounded in her chest as she took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "Thank you for letting me know. I'm going to the hospital right now."
The officer gave a nod. "If you need any further assistance or information, don't hesitate to contact us."
ack's face was filled with concern as he listened to Carina's frantic explanations. "We'll go with you," he said firmly. "We'll get to the hospital and find out what's going on."
Jo was already on the phone, arranging for a driver to take them to the hospital. "Carina, we'll get there as quickly as we can. Stay calm. We'll figure this out together."
Carina, Jack, and Jo rushed to the car, Carina's mind racing with worry and fear for Maya. The drive to Grey Sloan Memorial felt like it took forever, and Carina's thoughts were a whirlwind of anxiety as they navigated through traffic.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Carina took a deep breath and steeled herself for the information she would find. Jack and Jo stayed close by, offering support as they made their way to the emergency room, where they hoped to find out more about Maya's condition.
Carina arrived at the emergency room, her heart pounding as she approached the reception desk. Her hands were trembling as she tried to speak with the nurse at the front.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for information about my wife, Maya DeLuca-Bishop. She was in a serious car accident and was brought here. Can you tell me where she is or how she's doing?"
The nurse looked up with a sympathetic expression but didn't offer much in the way of details. "I'm sorry, but I can't give out information about patients' conditions or their locations in the hospital. You'll need to wait in the designated family area. A doctor will come to speak with you as soon as they have more information."
Frustrated and panicked, Carina's voice wavered. "But I need to know what's happening with her now. Is there anyone who can tell me more?"
Just then, Jo arrived, having made a few calls and managed to locate one of her colleagues, Dr. Sarah Thompson, who was working in the ER that night. Jo approached the desk and spoke to the nurse, who directed them to a small waiting room off to the side.
Dr. Thompson greeted them and tried to offer some clarity. "I'm Dr. Thompson. I heard there was a patient named Maya DeLuca-Bishop who was involved in a serious accident. I'm familiar with the case, so I can give you a bit of an update."
