As the weeks passed, Maya busied herself with the final preparations to hand over control of the company to Jack. Every detail had to be meticulously addressed to ensure a smooth transition. Maya and Jack spent long hours reviewing documents, finalizing merger details, and updating all relevant parties on the changes.

Maya worked closely with Jack to ensure that he was fully briefed on every aspect of the company's operations. They went over financial reports, strategic plans, and key contacts. Maya made sure that all ongoing projects were handed over seamlessly, and she spent time with the teams to introduce Jack as their new leader.

Carina supported Maya throughout the process, helping her stay organized and focused. They balanced these tasks with preparing for the arrival of their baby and settling into their new roles outside of the company.

As the transition approached its final stages, Maya felt a mix of relief and nostalgia. She knew she had made the right decision for her family and for herself, but leaving the company that had been such a significant part of her life was bittersweet.

On the day of the official handover, Maya and Jack held a final meeting with the senior management team. Maya took a moment to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication, expressing her confidence in Jack's leadership and the company's future.

With the formalities complete, Maya took one last walk through the office, reflecting on the journey and the changes ahead. She felt a sense of accomplishment, knowing that the company was in capable hands and that she could now focus on her family and the new chapter of her life with Carina.

Maya and Carina arrived at the hospital, their anticipation palpable. The waiting room was filled with the soft hum of activity, and cheerful baby-themed decorations added a touch of warmth to the space. Carina was particularly excited, her hand resting on her belly as she glanced around.

Jo greeted them with a beaming smile and led them to the examination room. After exchanging pleasantries and catching up briefly on how they'd been, Jo began with Carina's routine check-up.

"Let's start with the basics," Jo said as she took Carina's blood pressure and weighed her. "How have you been feeling?"

Carina shrugged slightly, a smile on her face. "Pretty good, just a bit more tired than usual. And I've had some back pain."

Jo nodded, taking notes. "That's fairly common at this stage. We'll make sure everything is on track today."

Next, Jo performed the ultrasound. As the screen flickered to life, showing the image of their baby, Maya and Carina leaned in, their eyes wide with wonder. The baby's features were clearer now, and Jo pointed out the head, arms, and legs.

"Here's the little one," Jo said, highlighting the baby's profile. "Look at that growth! Everything looks right on track."

Maya's hand tightened around Carina's. "It's incredible how much they've grown. I can hardly believe it's so close."

Jo smiled and moved on to measuring Carina's belly. "Your measurements are spot-on, and the baby's position is good. We're getting closer to the big day. Any questions or concerns you've been having lately?"

Carina took a deep breath. "I've been wondering about labor. How will I know when it's time to come in? And are there any signs I should be aware of?"

Jo nodded reassuringly. "Good questions. Labor signs can include regular contractions, your water breaking, or a significant change in your discharge. I'll go over the signs more in-depth in our next appointment, but the important thing is to listen to your body and call us when you feel it's time. We'll be ready."
