Bucky knocked on the door lightly. Riss opened it, slightly shocked to see him. "Hey, how'd it go?"
"I need to talk to you."
"Okay." She stepped out of the way, letting him into the apartment. He sat on the edge of her bed, gesturing for her to sit beside him.
"I need to tell you something. It's something I really didn't want to tell you." He started.
"Rip the bandaid off." She begged. "You cheated? Wait, I was with you the whole time? You bastard."
"No, Riss, no." He grabbed her hand. "I made Tony break a promise he made you."
"What?"
"I didn't know about it. Sam told me. He told me everything. About how you tried to convince him I was worth saving and you understood me. And I need you to remember that, okay?"
"Okay."
"December 16, 1991." He started. "I killed Tony's parents."
Riss looked away from him for a moment. "That's why Tony was always sad on my birthday."
"That's your birthday?" Bucky asked.
She nodded. "December 16, 1995."
Bucky sighed. "I should've told you sooner."
"You should've, yeah. But not the way you did." She replied. "You didn't kill them. You didn't kill any of them. You had no choice."
"It's not that simple." Bucky said.
"I know, but it's still an important distinction." Riss replied. "Thank you for telling me."
"That went way better than I thought it would." He admitted.
"You thought I'd be angry?" She asked.
"Your dad never wanted you to know about what happened in Siberia." He answered. "There was a fight."
"I figured that much." She admitted. "Look, I don't need details, okay? I kinda knew Tony had broken the promise and I accepted that."
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"You refused to give me the details all those years ago." He started. "Can I know now?"
"Are you sure?"
"Might as well." He answered. "I hurt you?"
She nodded. "On a few separate occasions. You almost broke my nose, threw me through a window."
"When Zemo said the words." Riss nodded.
"And you shot me." She turned, showing Bucky the scar. "Right through Natasha."
Bucky ran his finger over her scar. "Yeah. You were my target."
