Mia's POV

The bidding began, and so many items were shown; I was mesmerized by how many people had shown up. We not only had the wealthiest folks from our town but also from visiting towns, and I was astonished to see that visitors as far as California came to the bidding.

As usual, Asher's parents auctioned a complete vacation package to one of their hotels for a week, and everything was paid for. We had three packets in total: one from Asher's parents, one from his uncle, Blake Landon, to one of his hotels in the Maldives, and the third from a younger guy named Axel Vasquez.

Everyone said he looked scary and was really serious, but he was actually really nice. He was good friends with Nate's dad, Logan, and sat beside Nate. He talked with Nate the whole time we sat before the bidding began.

When the auction brought a dress made by the new fashion tycoon, Mila Tanner, he went crazy bidding on it. Unfortunately for him, Andrea also had her eyes on the dress, irritating him.

The dress was a pretty princess-like red dress with a heart-bust line and a flowing skirt in layers. The fabric was so detailed that I envied Andrea for a second if she were to keep it.

"Fifty thousand going once," the announcer says, making Andrea raise her brow proudly and look at Axel with a threatening look.

"Axel, sir... don't mind me, but... why do you want that dress?" I dared ask.

"It's for my sister. I haven't seen her in over three years, and Mila is her favorite designer, and there's no way I'm letting that brat have it," he says, clenching his jaw and raising his number again.

"One million!" he says, making everyone gasp. My eyes widened in shock, and I turned to Andrea, who was beyond furious. There's no way she can bid against him now. She doesn't have that much money, and no matter how wealthy her parents are, they will not allow her to spend that much on a dress.

"ONE MILLION DOLLARS, FOLKS... going once...going twice..." the announcer bangs his gavel on the pulpit with a big smile and points to Axel.

"SOLD to Mr. Axel Vasquez for one million," he announces, making Axel smirk slightly.

"Jenny is going to be really happy, Ax. The dress is really nice. It is Mila's latest exclusive, isn't it?" Nate asks, making me smile.

"Sure is. She will love it once she gets it," he says, smiling at Nate.

"Next, we have this one-of-a-kind locket. It has a slight mark on the backside, but the value of the locket has now diminished. It is a mix of pure gold, and rose gold. The pendant is encrusted with pink diamonds, making its value 2 million at the time of purchase, and has only increased with time. We will start the bidding at 3 million." the announcer says, but my eyes widen when I look up and see none other than the necklace that my mom had left me just a day before she and I had the car accident.

"No!" I gasped, whispering and making my eyes water.

"Mia, isn't that-"

"That's my pendant. No. How did," I looked at Andrea, who had an evil smile on her face, making me want to get up and kick her ass.

"Am I missing something here?" Axel asks, making me fist my hands angrily.

"You bitch!" I whispered, looking at Andrea's smug expression, and she crossed her hands over her chest.

"That's Mia's necklace. Her mom gifted that to her before she passed away. But I don't understand how Andrea got her hands on it." Nate explains, making Axel nod in understanding as he sighed, looking at the announcer.
