I still can't believe how soaked we got that day...
Do you remember that afternoon when we got caught in the rain? We were just walking, enjoying the day, when the sky suddenly opened up and poured down on us. Neither of us had an umbrella, and I remember the way we looked at each other, half-laughing, half-panicking, as the rain soaked through our clothes in seconds.
But instead of running for cover, we just stood there, letting the rain drench us, and then something amazing happened—we started laughing. Not just small chuckles, but full, uncontrollable laughter. The kind that makes your stomach ache and tears mix with the raindrops on your face.
You grabbed my hand, and we ran, not to escape the rain, but just because it felt like the right thing to do. We splashed through puddles, our shoes squishing with every step, but it didn't matter. We were together, in that moment, completely free and alive. The world around us blurred into a haze of water and laughter, and all I could think about was how happy I was to be with you.
That rainstorm wasn't planned, it wasn't perfect, but it's one of the memories I'll hold onto forever. It reminded me that life doesn't always go as we expect, but sometimes, the unexpected can be the most beautiful thing of all.
As I write this goodbye, I want you to remember that day, and the joy we found in the middle of something so simple, so unpredictable. When life gets stormy, I hope you think of us, laughing in the rain, and remember that even in the messiest moments, there's still joy to be found, as long as we're together.
Goodbye for now, my love. I'll always carry that rainy day with me, and the happiness we found in it.
With all my heart,
Katsuki...
Izuku's heart raced faster than a bullet train as he felt Katsuki's warm hand intertwine with his own, fingers entangling like roots seeking support. He stole a quick glance at his boyfriend, heart skipping a beat at the sight of Katsuki's relaxed expression. They were holding hands...in public! His cheeks burned hotter than the summer sun, but he didn't pull away. Instead, he squeezed back ever so slightly, savoring the solidity of their connection.
"A-Are you sure this is okay, Kacchan?" He asked tentatively, eyes darting around to see if anyone noticed their display of affection. Katsuki shot him a sideways glare, but it lacked its usual bite. "Yeah, what's the big deal?" He shrugged nonchalantly. Izuku couldn't suppress the warmth blooming in his chest at the casual acceptance. It had taken time for Katsuki to become comfortable with public displays of affection, but seeing him try...it meant the world to him.
"Hmph," Katsuki grumbled, tugging him forward, "Let's just hurry up and get what we need before you turn into a tomato, Deku." Izuku let out a nervous laugh, cheeks flaming even more at the teasing remark. But he didn't protest, allowing Katsuki to lead them through the bustling streets lined with festive decorations.
He couldn't help but steal furtive glances at their entwined hands as they walked, still unable to believe that this was real. Him, Izuku Midoriya, holding hands with Katsuki Bakugo, his childhood rival turned...love. Life had a strange sense of irony sometimes. He bit his bottom lip, trying to rein in the sudden surge of emotions threatening to overwhelm him.
"Kacchan," he started softly, "Thank you..." Katsuki shot him a confused glance, brows furrowing in question. Izuku looked up, green eyes meeting his own, filled with sincerity. "For...for everything. For putting up with me, for supporting me, and..."
"...and for holding my hand, even when it's so...so obvious." He finished sheepishly, eyes darting back down to their joined hands. Katsuki's steps faltered, but only for a fraction of a second before he tightened his hold on Izuku's hand, thumb rubbing circles on the back of his palm. "Dumbass," He muttered affectionately, "You're worth it."
His heart swelled at Katsuki's rare display of vulnerability, a smile blooming on his face that threatened to rival the sun. Just as he opened his mouth to reply, a cold droplet of water splattered against his cheek. Izuku blinked in confusion before looking upwards. Dark clouds had gathered overhead unnoticed, and now, fat droplets of rain began to fall around them, painting the concrete streets with silver streaks.
"Rain..." He mumbled, eyes wide with disbelief. It was like fate was playing a cruel joke on them today. Katsuki cursed under his breath, sharing in his dismay. They both looked around frantically for shelter, but the streets were eerily deserted except for the occasional passerby dashing between buildings, already armed with umbrellas. And to top it off, all the stores were closed, their neon signs replaced by cold, lifeless darkness.
A heavier droplet landed on his glasses, distorting his vision temporarily. Izuku hastily wiped it off with the sleeve of his jacket, only for another one to take its place. They were going to be soaked in no time.
"Kacchan..." He started hesitantly, eyes darting around in search of any form of shelter. Katsuki grunted in agreement, already pulling out his phone to check for nearby places that might still be open. But just as he pressed the screen, a loud crackle of thunder echoed through the sky, followed by a torrential downpour that left them both soaked in seconds.
"Dammit!" Katsuki cursed, stuffing his useless phone back into his pocket.
Izuku couldn't help the startled laughter that bubbled up his throat as the sudden downpour drenched them both, hair sticking to their faces like wet leaves. He looked absolutely ridiculous with his glasses fogging up every second, but even through the haze, he could see Katsuki's frustration morphing into something else...amusement?
"Y-You're...you're laughing?" He stuttered incredulously, wiping water from his eyes. Katsuki shot him an exasperated glance before a wide grin split his face, teeth gleaming white against the backdrop of heavy rain. "What, you expected me to explode instead?" He retorted, voice teasing despite the raindrops splattering against his face.
Izuku snorted, the absurdity of their situation finally registering fully. They were two grown men, soaked to the bone in the middle of a deserted shopping district, with no shelter in sight. And they were...laughing about it? The absurdity of it all tickled something inside him, and soon enough, he was laughing along with Katsuki, head thrown back, oblivious to the cold droplets pelting against his exposed neck.
For a brief moment, all thoughts of rejection letters and failed interviews were swept away by the relentless current of rainwater and shared laughter. He felt...free. Free from the weight of expectations and self-doubt that constantly clung to him like a suffocating cloak. And as ridiculous as it seemed, standing there under the pouring sky with Katsuki, he realized maybe, just maybe, things would be alright. Because even on the worst of days, he had someone stupid enough to dance with him through the storm.
Izuku's laughter died in his throat as Katsuki closed the distance between them, droplets of rain clinging to his eyelashes like diamonds. He felt a warmth spread through him that had nothing to do with the sudden proximity. Before he could process what was happening, Katsuki leaned forward, capturing his lips in a soft yet determined kiss. The raindrops continued their relentless assault, but they seemed distant now, muted compared to the thunderous beat of his racing heart.
Surprise morphed into something tender and warm within him, and he found himself leaning into the kiss, arms instinctively wrapping around Katsuki's wet figure to bring him closer. This wasn't the first time they had shared such a moment, but somehow, in the middle of this unexpected storm, it felt...more real. More raw.
His mind whirled in disbelief, but his body knew better than to question such fleeting happiness. He parted his lips tentatively, allowing Katsuki access to explore further. Their breaths mingled, hot against the coolness of the rain, creating a contrast that sent shivers down his spine. It was messy, wet, and completely unplanned - everything opposite of how Izuku usually liked things to be. But right here, right now, it felt perfect.
When they finally broke apart, both breathless and smiling, Izuku couldn't help but voice his thoughts. "W-Why did you..." Katsuki interrupted him with a shake of his head, ruffling wet bangs out of his eyes. "Because you needed it, idiot," He said gruffly, but the softness in his gaze betrayed the harshness of his words. Izuku blushed harder, but he didn't argue. Maybe, just maybe, Katsuki understood him better than anyone else.
"C-Come on," Katsuki muttered, tugging him forward once more, "Let's find somewhere dry before we catch pneumonia." And as they ran through the pouring rain, hand in hand, laughter mingling with the rhythmic patter of raindrops, Izuku couldn't help but feel a spark of hope ignite.
