"morning," akeno whispered to a still half awake max and kléo.

they had just gotten back the night before and to start of their new year, they decided to be together. in the same penthouse, same room, same bed.

it was exciting for the three of them, finally being able to implement max into the mix.

"mm," max moaned and fluttered his eyes, "good morning shall i say?"

"you guys talk too much," kléo groaned and buried her face in her pillow.

"shes not usually this grumpy in the morning," akeno whispered.

"knock knock, may i come in?" kléo's mother asked as she stood at the other side of the door.

"mom, "knock, knock" does not count as knock!" kléo yelled back as she failed to realize the presence of the third person in her bed. it wasnt unusual for max to spend the night with akeno and kléo, just not when her mom was home. thats all.

"should i hide?" max whispered.

kléo groaned, "its fine, max."

"really?"

"dont make me regret it? k?"

kléo then slowly opened her bedroom door to see her mother standing there with a tray of breakfast in bed. "i thought this would be a nice new year offering. how was the trip?"

"uh, it was great! listen, i dont mean to blow you off but i have company--"

"oh! aki's here! that would've been nice to know, i would've made breakfast for him too! hi akeno!"

"hi, mrs. kensington!" akeno said.

"also, max is here." kléo smiled, "say hi, max"

"hi?" max chuckled nervously.

"is this the inside joke?"

"it is," kléo nodded.

"stay safe is all i ask." she smiled nervously.

"of course," kléo smiled," and thanks for the breakfast, mommy."

"awkward," max said under his breath.
