~Kawayan's POV~

"Thanks, I will." Closing the door to my driver's room, I put in my headphones, trying to relax my mind from the anticipation of today's race. Although it didn't last long because my music had been cut off by a call alarm from my phone. There was a picture of my boss and I wearing cowboy hats during my first ever Grand Prix win. I always giggle when I see it. "Hey, what's going on?" My Filipino accent is dense as ever. My boss, Hugo, chuckled at my slight struggle to pronounce English words. "Nice to know you're levelheaded for the upcoming race." His very thick French accent wasn't anything to brag about either. Both of us would give each other shit for who had the worst accent.

"I am. No distractions here." I began to pace around my room. If I can't listen to music, then pacing is my next best option. "Hate to pull you away from your driver's room hours before a race, but we need you to come to my office. Emergency meeting." Before I could say anything, the line ended. Being called into the office almost never goes well. I couldn't come up with a single thing that would get me in trouble. There was a time when me and my best friend, Bianca Bustamante, purposely skipped practice to go see a movie. That was for sure weeks ago, though. Bianca and I called out sick that day. I think they caught us. "Can't believe this shit is happening before my fucking race. Hugo is the one keeping me from being calm." I grumbled as I untied my race suit from around my waist and the sleeves were put on properly.

When I was getting closer to the door of my manager's office, I began feeling my nerves setting in. My left hand, hovering over the doorknob. This was the last race before the official end of the season. It felt weird to have an emergency meeting so suddenly. I don't think it's Bianca and I skipping practice anymore. This shouldn't be happening anyway when I'm 48 laps away from being the Formula 2 world champion. If anything, they can wait to have this said emergency meeting once the race is finished. "I'm here, sir." I said after knocking firmly on Hugo's door and then heading inside without any confirmation for it. To my surprise, Bianca was already sitting on one of the chairs. Hugo was right across from her, and some other man was standing next to Hugo that I didn't recognize. That man was definitely a Filipino man.

"Have a seat, Kuh-we-yun." No matter how many times I teach him how to pronounce my name, he still gets it wrong. I'm starting to think I need a nickname at this point. Bianca & I gave each other a disturbed look, but we did hug to greet each other and had the Italian kiss. Something we always did since Monaco at the start of our career. After I sat in my chair, there was a brief moment of silence that became serious. The unnecessary tension was weird. "So, what's up? It's starting to feel uncomfy." Bianca, on my right, tried desperately to hide her laugh. Nothing was funny, just put the both of us in a room, and we'll find a reason to laugh at almost anything.
