The day after Valentine's Day, the festive atmosphere at Merlin Academy had faded, replaced by the usual hustle and bustle of school life. Bridget woke up feeling a mix of emotions—yesterday had been special in a way she hadn't expected, but now, the reality of keeping her relationship with Hook a secret weighed heavily on her.

As she got ready for the day, Bridget found herself glancing at the silver bracelet Hook had given her. It was a simple piece of jewelry, but it meant so much more to her now. She carefully tucked it under the sleeve of her uniform, knowing she had to keep it hidden, just like everything else about them.

At breakfast, she sat with Ella, trying to act as if everything was normal. Ella seemed cheerful, talking about the upcoming assignments and plans for the weekend. But Bridget couldn't help but notice how Ella's smile faded whenever she caught Bridget glancing around the dining hall, as if she were looking for someone.

As they walked to their first class together, Ella finally spoke up. "You seem distracted, Bridget. Is everything okay?"

Bridget hesitated, not wanting to lie but also not ready to reveal the truth. "I'm fine, just a lot on my mind."

Ella gave her a knowing look. "Is this about yesterday? You know, if there's something you want to talk about, I'm here."

Bridget forced a smile, appreciating Ella's concern but not wanting to drag her into the complicated mess of her feelings for Hook. "It's nothing, really. Just trying to keep up with everything."

Ella didn't seem entirely convinced, but she let it go, changing the subject to something lighter. Bridget was relieved, though the guilt of keeping secrets from her best friend gnawed at her.

Throughout the day, Bridget and Hook exchanged only brief glances in the hallways. There was no chance for them to talk, and Bridget found herself missing the brief moments they had shared in the courtyard the day before.

During lunch, Bridget sat with Ella again, trying to focus on their conversation. But her attention was drawn to the other side of the dining hall, where Hook was sitting with Uliana and her group. Uliana was laughing at something Hook had said, and for a moment, Bridget felt a pang of jealousy and doubt. Was she just fooling herself into thinking he could be different?

Ella noticed Bridget's wandering gaze and frowned. "Bridget, are you still thinking about Hook?"

Bridget quickly looked away, shaking her head. "No, just... distracted, I guess."

But Ella wasn't easily fooled. She leaned in closer, her voice low. "Bridget, I care about you, and I just want you to be careful. Hook isn't exactly known for being the most trustworthy guy."

Bridget felt a lump in her throat as she tried to find the right words. "I know, Ella. But I think there's more to him than people realize."

Ella sighed, her expression softening. "I just don't want to see you get hurt, that's all."
