TIRHANI

"Where is she?" I feel hands attempt to grab me but I immediately turn and push the person away, the person being my uncle.

"Who?"

"Don't play games with me, boy. You know exactly who I'm talking about,"

"I have no idea who you're talking about. As far as I know, every woman in this yard is still in the house." I answer with a slight smirk. I can think of one good reason why this grown man would try to put his hands on me just after I walk in the yard after jogging. His mind is not working straight, with the amount of energy and adrenaline that's coursing through me I could easily pin him to the ground but no, I think I'll let him stew in panic for now.

"Dammit Tirhani. Where is the girl? What did you do with her?" I see the panic in his eyes which makes me wonder if she was perhaps more than a hired whore to him.

"What's it to you, Rony?"

"Fuck you, if you did anything to her I swear-"

"What are you going to do? Huh? Tell me, Maronza, what exactly is it do you think you can ever do you me and why didn't you do it before I grew to be this big? Then I would have been your match but now? Your threats mean nothing to me.

You want to know what I did to your little whore? Maybe one day you and I will sit down and I'll tell you detail by detail about how she disappeared from the face of the earth, poof! "I make a mockery out of his frustrations and then I proceed to laugh at his face. I'm not in the least happy but seeing him this miserable sure does lift me up. Then I walk closer to him so he can hear me with no hindrance and I speak lowly and slowly, he needs to understand me.

"What you just did is the same as provoking a snake that was minding its own business in its hole, bothering no one. You made it poke its head out and we all know that once its out then it can't go back to its hole without biting something, or rather someone first. Later, Madala (old man) " I tap his shoulder and leave him to his thoughts.

KURISANI

I'm waking up just as Tirhani walks out of the bathroom covered in just a towel. I fell asleep before he came to bed last night but I do know that be slept here, probably to further kill any suspicion there may be about our marriage. Then he went out very early, woke up just as he was getting ready to leave but decided it was too early for another encounter with him so I went back to sleep and now he's here again.

"You're zoning out again," He says reminding me of the first few days after we had gotten married when he came out of the shower and caught me zoning out while my eyes were fixed in him. We've really come far since then, not a good kind of far but still, things have changed a lot since those early days.

"I told you that it just happens sometimes," I answer with a bit of a smile and he returns it.

"Yeah, I remember you said that. Slept well?"

"I did, you?"

"I didn't,"

"You didn't sleep well?"

"I didn't sleep,"

"Oh... I... Uhm-"

"You don't have to say anything. I'm fine, I actually wanted to talk to you this morning," he says and I dread the pending conversation because I know it will end in a fight. We will never agree on this.

"Tirhani-"

"Just listen before you say anything,"

"Okay,"
