KURISANI

"Oh, my girl. How are you feeling?" hahani Tiyi asks with a concerned look on her face and she doesn't wait for my to answer before she throws the fruit basket on the side and rushes to covers me in her arms and hugs me tightly then she showers my cheeks with kisses"Are you still in a lot of pain?" she asks assessing me with her eyes.

"Not a lot,"

"But you're still in pain,"

"I'll be okay, hahani. Don't stress yourself,"

"How can I not stress, Kuri? When you're in a hospital bed?"

"I'll be fine," I tell her even though it does not feel like it. At this moment, I'd rather be sleeping.

"Excuse my lack of manners, how are you?" She asks Tirhani. When she walked in here she ignored both him and Rhulani and she marched straight to my bed.

"I'm okay, thanks and you, hahani?"

"I'll be okay as soon as this one is discharged and we are assured that she will be fine. She really gave me a fright,"

"I know what you mean, you had me scared there for a moment," He says while looking at me.

"I didn't plan for it," I answer quietly and they all have this look of pity as though they just remembered what brought me here.

"I need to get some coffee. Svara, you coming?" Rhulani asks Tirhani.

"Yeah, I need a cup too. Do you want some?" he asks hahani Tiyi.

"No, I'm good thanks,"

They both excuse themselves and soon as the door is closed she has me scoot over so she can sit with me on the bed then she puts an arm around me and I rest my head on her.

"What happened, Kuri?"

"I don't know. I went to bed feeling okay and then I woke up in the middle of the night feeling pressed and that's when it happened,"

"And what are the doctors saying?"

"My tox screen came back clean, they found nothing, no substance, no poison, nothing," I can't hide the frustration in my tone. I want answers, I want to know exactly what happened and they all keep telling me nothing. There's nothing to explain why my baby is dead, absolutely nothing and it frustrates me to the core. At least if I had an answer for this, maybe then it would be easy to deal with and eventually accept but not when I have to wonder exactly what happened.

"That's strange,"

"I know. It's very strange and it's leading me to think that someone used blackmagic on me,"

"Kuri-"

"No, hahani. You know I've never been one to point on such even though I know it exists but how do you explain this? They say that my health is good, that every test is coming back clean and yet my baby is dead? No, someone did this and I'm going to find them and they are going to pay. " I have to blink away my hot tears.

" I hear you and I understand that you want to get to the bottom of this but right now you need to focus on you and your health, "

"But-"

"No, now it's your turn to listen, girly. You're shattered, I understand that. I know you had decided to keep your baby. You were even willing to be stripped off everything just for a chance to be a mother to the life you were carrying and now it has been snatched from you just like that. I know you and I know you will want to know what happened and I'm not saying that's wrong, you deserve to know what happened to your baby but you are not going to strain yourself, Kurisani. You are not going to neglect your health and well-being while trying to uncover the truth. Allow yourself to rest, give your body a break and go through the cleansing and everything else, clear your mind too and then you can start digging for the truth. You hear me, aniri? "
