NARRATED POV
She never thought a day would come where her husband blatantly disregards and sidelines her like this but that day has arrived and that day is here. She is being tested in her own home and she cannot even wallow in her own sadness because she has her baby girl to comfort. She cannot understand how all these people are okay with invalidating Gavaza's feelings just because Yingwani's bastard first born bad decided to resurface.
Where did Rhulani even find her? Is this some kind of revenge plot on her side? A way to get back at them for the death of her mother? But that happened many years ago and she would think that she is over it by now. People die everyday, nothing is special about her mother's death so she doesn't understand how Yingwani's is agreeing to be pulled by the nose by a child he hasn't been a father to in so many years. The thought of it makes her insides boil.
"I don't know how you expect Gavaza to get through today," She says looking at her husband who is getting ready for the visitors today. The bloody letter is coming today and she didn't sleep a wink last night. These people will force her to resort to desperate measures and it will not be nice.
" I told you to take her away for the weekend, let her get some fresh air and you refused,"
"So you want my daughter and I to leave our own home because your darling princess decided to steal visitors that were meant for my daughter? How much more of this will you keep accepting, papa Gavaza? How much more tears will you stand for coming from your daughter? "
" You seem to forget that Rialivhuwa is my daughter too, and Rhulani chose her, not Gavaza. She didn't force him, she didn't hold a gun to his hand and according to what he has told me, she had no idea that her sister is interested in him too. Do you think anyone would be able to force anything on that young man and succeed? "
"Who knows? Maybe she seduced him, maybe she bewitched him,"
"You will stop right there, Prudence. Ria did no such thing. She's not capable of it,"
She scoffs "And how would you know this? It's not like you've been a present father to her until recently. Even then, your relationship with her is being forced by Rhulani, you are not father of the year when it comes to her but you are when it comes to our daughter but you are choosing to fail her, you have already failed one daughter, papa Gavaza. Why must you daily the one you raised too? " She decides to hit below the belt with her words and remind him of how much he failed his daughter. This is something that digs at Yingwani so much. He is aware of how much he has failed his daughter and when he thought about the situation at hand, he saw the silver lining of it all. Of course he is nappy that he still gets to keep his alliance with the Mabunda family but what if this is his second chance? What if he had been given a chance to do better as a father. His guilt is what drove him away all these years but she is all grown now and he is willing whatever opportunity there is for him to build a relationship with his first daughter. This could just be the beginning of it all.
"I know I haven't been a present father, you don't have to remind me every five minutes. I'm doing what I can now, aren't I?"
"At the expense of my child? Each day you are pushing me to-"
"I dare you to threaten me again, woman. Go ahead, do it and see where it lands you," He takes a step closer and they have a staring competition until Prudence backs down "That's what I thought. We were both present all those years ago and don't act like you're innocent in all of this. You badly wanted to be my wife, you got that and what happened, happened. Now stop thinking you can continue to threaten me because you should know very well that I don't take likely to threats, Prudence. "
