Panicking, Link quickly sat up in his cot and immediately checked his left hand where the Triforce had appeared in his dream. Much to his relief, the relic wasn't painted on his skin. He sunk back down into his bed. He shouldn't be surprised, it was only a dream after all.

The sun outside the window had almost finished rising, and watching the warm hues dance across the sky had calmed him down a bit. But despite the sunrise, the fast beating of his heart still lingered.

His dreams had gotten increasingly bizarre with each passing night.

The Triforce? Had he done something to upset the gods? Was that girl he kept seeing a goddess? That would explain the strange glow around her. But then, had she made the symbol appear? It only happened after they touched. But, like him, she looked just as surprised as him when the mark appeared.

Unlike him though, she seemed to know what it had all meant, and guessing by her reaction, he knew it couldn't be good.

A blood curdling scream quickly pulled him from his thoughts.

Link and Ace sprang out of their beds and over to their window. A sea of what only could be described as monsters flooded the streets around the castle. There were two types of foes that they could see. The first one, which made up most of the ranks, were impish, pig-like creatures that came in various colors and held all kinds of weapons. The other, skeletons clad in armor that wielded swords and shields not much unlike the ones Link use. There had to be a least thirty creatures that they could see, and their tiny window only showed one entrance of the castle square.

The two roommates sprang into action and began changing into their armor.

"What the hell are those things?! How'd they get past the gate?" Ace asked as he was putting on his boots.

"I don't know." Link quickly replied.

The two ran out of their room when they were finished, and sprinted over to the secret section of the square where weapons were held for emergencies such as this one, being careful to avoid the enemies in their path.

With sword and claymore now in hand, the two directed their attention to the other trainees that lived in the same section.

Their comrades were not fairing well against the unfamiliar enemies. These creatures were foreign and nothing they had trained for.

Joining the troops, Link clashed his own weapon against one of the skeleton's swords. For something with no meat on its bones, it was surprisingly strong and pushed him back with ease.

Thrusting the sword in front of him, he tried to jab the monster in its ribs. It quickly dodged before Link's sword could pierce it. Strong and fast too.

"What are you?!" He tried asking.

All he received was a snarl in response.

Retreating a few steps back, Link stayed on the defense in order to figure out an effective strategy.

He couldn't deny it was intelligent in the field of battle, but that seemed like the only thing it had a brain for. If there was a brain rattling around in its skull at all. But where had they come from and why? And more importantly right now, how do you kill something that's already suppose to be dead?
