Chapter 25

She held the pillow over her ear, the baby had been screaming for what seemed like hours, "can't you shut her up!" She hated this, she wanted to go back to Philadelphia with her dad.

"Jacklyn, stop screaming!"

"My name isn't Jacklyn!"

Linda sighed, she was beginning to lose her resolve the baby wasn't right something was off with her, she had been up most of the night crying and wasn't eating much.

"Who does she belong to Mom, who?"

"It doesn't matter, she's ours now, damn it!"

'Jacklyn' sighed, "it does matter mom, some family is missing her right now, I bet they're terrified"

Linda laughed "oh trust me, he's terrified alright. He should have known better though, he only has himself to blame"

"Who mom, who?" The tone of her mother's voice frightened her, she had suffered some mental break for sure.

Linda put the baby in the crib "your brother" and stormed out of the room, leaving a very confused 'Jacklyn' behind.

Kim watched as Adam slept, he hadn't been asleep long and it wasn't very restful his body kept twitching and he would mutter something incoherent every so often.

"Someone wanted his mommy" Amy whispered from the doorway, Anthony running to Kim.

"Hi little man" Kim said as she helped him up on the bed."you have to be quiet, daddy's sleeping"

"Where's baby?" Anthony asked, he had been asking all morning Amy never sure what to tell him.

Kim stifled a sob, "I don't know but daddy's friends are looking for her" Kim looked over at a still sleeping Adam " daddy promised us they would find her, and daddy never breaks a promise, right?"

"Right!" Anthony smiled.

Bob, Hank, and Al showed up, "hi honey" Bob hugged Amy, he tapped Adam's leg, "wake up son" he nudged him again "Adam, wake up"

Adam's eyes popping open "did you find her?"

"Not yet, but we have a lead a really good one" Bob told them, "you guys tell him, I don't think I can" his anger with his ex-wife off the charts.

Adam was now sitting beside Kim and Anthony, "what's up?"

"Hank and I went to Molly's last night, to clear our heads a bit, Hermann from house 51 tells us some drunk is bragging about helping someone snatch a baby" Al tells them, "we question him, turns out he's a doctor here and he confesses to helping the lady"

Adam grabs Kim's hand "who is it?"

"Your mother" Al says, watching the confusion flash over Adam's face, he pulled a picture from his jacket "this guy look familiar, he's Joe Tavares a doctor here"

Adam cursed "that's the som of a bitch who delivered Harper, Al are you positive my mother was involved?" He knew he pissed her off but this was huge.

Hank stepped forward, "we're positive, Antonio found her on the surveillance footage leaving the hospital, carrying a duffel bag. Plus, she volunteers on the maternity ward has done so for the past eight months" he sat down "the entire staff said she's been amazing and they are all shocked she would do this, some refuse to believe it, but I know she did it"

"The earring Lindsay found, had a partial print, matching your mothers" Al told them, "she's got your baby, Adam"

"Where the hell is she?" Kim asked, "is she still at the hotel?"
