A day had passed since the incident in Nairin Village.Areum decided to stay at the palace, as she needed to visit Uncle Owen every day until her energy recovered.
"Is this really so dangerous?" she mumbled to herself, clenching her fist and looking at her palm as if it were the source of her distress.
"I know Papa Julius is only looking out for me, but I can't help but feel frustrated." Her frustration stemmed from her father's words about her newfound way of fighting using the curse that flowed through her body.
"You can't use that, Areum. You know to yourself that you are mana-less, so there is no way that could fill the requirement of releasing that magic. However, also using your energy to fill the gap might kill you. It'll take away your life force, making you turn like dust. So please, for your own safety, do not use it."
Hearing Papa Julius say that made her face the harsh reality that she could never be like Asta, Yuno, or even Noelle, who could fight for the sake of the kingdom.
Even though Areum had grown fond of Asta, there were times when she felt envious of his ability to pull off things that only someone with mana could do, despite being mana-less. Areum had thought she would be able to do the same, but now she realized she couldn't.
As she walked down the palace hallway, she saw a familiar figure and, recognizing him, immediately approached him.
"William oni-sama!" she exclaimed, waving her hand excitedly. But Areum's forehead creased when she saw him gritting his teeth, as if he were angry at her.
"You okay, nii-san?" she tilted her head. William oni-sama simply smiled, making her forget his earlier reaction.
Maybe she was just seeing things.
"Yeah. Just thinking of something."
He and Areum talked for a while before he bid her goodbye, as he had a meeting to attend.
She waved goodbye and walked in the opposite direction, completely oblivious to the fact that the person might not have been William.
Once outside, Areum planned to spend her day at the Raque Library again. It was the only way she could release the frustration she was feeling.
Areum didn't use a magic carpet for transport and simply walked, as the library was close to the palace.
She started to walk and was about to turn right when she heard a familiar name calling her from above.
"What a coincidence, Flyspeck." Areum looked up to find Yuno riding on his broomstick.
Not in the mood, Areum only offered a small smile and waved her hand. Yuno raised his eyebrows, finding it unusual that she wasn't overreacting.
"Hello, honey." Yuno was wrong; she was a wolf hiding in sheep's clothing.
"Stop with the endearment. It's bothering me." Yuno said, descending from his broom.
