The following morning, I awoke with a singular purpose: to find Hinata and finally have a conversation with her after two long years apart.
My first stop was the Hyuga mansion, where the staff greeted me with polite smiles but informed me that Hinata was often at the academy. As I made my way there, a whirlwind of thoughts raced through my mind.
What would I say to her after all this time? Would she even remember me?
The anticipation was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I approached the academy gates.
Upon arriving at the academy, I was greeted by a lively scene. A group of children had gathered, their eyes wide with excitement as they watched someone perform a jutsu.
As I looked over the crowd, my heart skipped a beat when I realized it was Hinata at the center of attention.
She was effortlessly executing the technique, her grace and skill captivating everyone around her.
I stood there, momentarily lost in admiration, completely unaware of how long I had been staring until a small child pointed me out to her.
The moment our eyes met, a rush of heat flooded my face, and I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. What was I going to say?
My mind went blank, and I could feel the sweat beginning to bead on my forehead.
Just then, Hinata finished her demonstration and turned her attention towards me, her expression shifting from surprise to a warm smile.
"Hey Naruto! It's been a while," she said, her voice soft yet filled with genuine warmth. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.
"Yeah, it has. I've missed seeing you around Hinata," I replied, my voice slightly shaky.
She nodded, glancing back at the teacher she had been speaking with before running over to me. "I've been training a lot, but I always hoped I'd see you again," she admitted, her cheeks tinged with a hint of pink.
In that moment, all my worries faded away, replaced by the joy of reconnecting with someone I had admired for so long.
As we stood there, the noise of the academy faded into the background, and it felt as if we were in our own little world.
I couldn't help but notice how much she had grown; her confidence radiated from her, and the shy girl I once knew seemed to have blossomed into someone strong and capable.
"You've really improved," I said, gesturing towards the group of students who were still buzzing with excitement from her demonstration. "It's amazing to see you like this."
Hinata's smile widened, and I could see the pride in her eyes. "Thank you! I've been working hard, and it feels good to see the results," she replied, her enthusiasm infectious.
We began to walk together, the conversation flowing more easily than I had anticipated. I asked her about her training, and she shared stories of her experiences at the academy, the challenges she faced, and the friendships she had formed.
Each word she spoke painted a vivid picture of her life over the past two years, and I found myself hanging on every detail.
It was as if the distance and time apart had melted away, and I was reminded of the bond we once shared. I shared my own experiences too, recounting my adventures and the lessons I had learned during our time apart.
As we walked, I noticed how the sun filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. The atmosphere was serene, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was a stark contrast to the whirlwind of emotions I had felt earlier.
