The King who had nurtured Princess Asabea was ready to take down the kingdom. After all these years, they wanted to take Asabea and leave him with nothing? That was certainly not going to happen.
He had heard that the prince was getting married so he wanted to attack on the eve of the occasion, that way, they would be clueless. He chuckled to himself.
Kumi took his wife in his arms and entered his new spacious hut. He sighed as he let go of her and tried to get up. Obaa Afia held her husband's massive arm. "What's wrong?" She asked softly.
Kumi looked at her and said,"you wanted to marry someone else." Obaa Afia sighed and chuckled softly,"no, I rather discouraged them from doing so by lying to them that I couldn't cook. Did you even see the man? He was skinny and looked as if he would fall with just a simple push. When I have such a hot man after me, why should I even think of doing that?" She said as she toyed with his beard. When he didn't respond, she kissed his neck.
He gently pulled her arms off his neck. "Don't even think about it." He said playfully. She giggled seductively and teased,"you and I both know that you want me." He grinned, "you know me so well." He said as he jerked her body to his and began attacking her body with kisses.
Jaguar and Kumi woke up when their sharpened and trained senses caught the faded sounds of footsteps. The kingdom was about to be attacked and fortunately, they were now moving to the huts. They had little time to think especially with their women refusing to let go of them even in their sleep. Gently, Kumi detached himself from his wife after kissing her forehead.
Putting on his clothes, he quietly stepped outside. Jaguar had quietly called the warriors without waking up the King and the women. Some of the warriors were left behind to guard the village itself.
Kumi and Jaguar led the warriors to the borders. The attackers were taken by surprise. Unfortunately, their King had followed them.
Swords made clinging and clashing sounds while arrows poured like it was raining. The unlucky or unguarded ones were few from Kumi's side and couldn't make it but others were injured. Kumi and Jaguar fought the King together and in no time, he was killed. His warriors had no option but to surrender. They took them as captives to the kingdom and were made prisoners.
Obaa Afia was scared when she woke up in an empty bed. She felt uncomfortable between her legs and had to take her time in getting up. Kumi came in at that moment. "My Queen." He grinned as entered.
"Where did you go?" She asked, calming down and hugging him, forgetting for a moment that she was naked. Kumi tried to ignore it but he couldn't. Mischief filled his head as he slowly lowered his hand and squeezed her backside.
She quickly became self conscious. She pulled away and covered herself with the cloth. When he tried to kiss her, she whispered,"I'm sore." He clenched his jaw and then called for a warm bath.
"Don't think that I have forgotten the question. Where did you go?" She asked. Kumi chuckled and replied,"my sister's kingdom wanted to attack us. My warriors and I had to go and even stop them before they crossed the border."
Obaa Afia was stunned. How was he able to hear them and she didn't? She could have sworn that she was a light sleeper.
"Are you fine? I hope you're not hurt anywhere." She asked with worry. "It hurts." He whispered. She panicked,"what? Where?" He pointed at his erection. She shyly chuckled. "Well, I can't let you touch me for a while or else I won't be able to walk but I could do something about it." She said.
He immediately nodded, knowing what she was talking about. She nervously got on the bed with her husband.
Obaa Afia breathed in and out to catch her breath before she vomited every bit of food from her stomach. She felt dizzy and currently, she was in the bushes. Kumi and Jaguar were discussing a few things about warfare when Kumi noticed his wife in the bushes.
He dismissed Jaguar and walked to her. Obaa Afia stood up and her husband was quick to hold her before she could fall.
"My Queen, someone, get the physician." Kumi ordered as he took her to their hut. The physician along with the family entered the hut.
"What's wrong with my daughter?" The Queen asked, worried. However, Asabea giggled and teased,"brother, don't tell me you got your wife pregnant in just a month of marriage."
Kumi glared at his sister and she shut up. The physician checked Obaa Afia and confirmed that she was indeed pregnant.
Obaa Afia slowly woke up to find her parents and her husband's family around her. "What happened?" She asked.
Kumi grinned proudly as he said,"we are going to have a cub of our own." Obaa Afia was shocked at first before she burst into happy tears and hugged him. The family joined them.
It was night and the couple laid in bed in each other's arms. "Although the love we shared was painful, the endurance and faith was worth it." Kumi said and Obaa Afia agreed.
It wasn't easy being apart but choosing each other that could ever happen to them. Gifty had tried to poison her just two weeks after the wedding and when she was found out, she took in her own poison in shame. Obaa Afia had been broken and refused to eat for two days until Kumi lashed out and assured her that Gifty never deserved her as a friend so she should forget about her.
It had been hard and hurtful but all was worth it.
