A year before Chris and Rachel sent Reidan to Mission Creek, they were in talks with the future of the company and what that would mean for them.

Chris was sitting on the opposite end of the large table that took over a big part of the facility conference room. On the other end— was another gentleman, he was bald, probably roughly around the same age as Chris, he also looked like a very distinguished man.

Chris was typing away at his tablet before speaking to the man again, he slowly looked up and darted his eyes towards him.

"Alright, it looks like we got everything situated. What else is there for us to do?" Chris asked the man, placing his tablet down on the table.

The man on the other end shot Chris a smirk, a confident one at that. Getting up from his chair, pacing around the room.

"We'll discuss that later. But for right now? I want you to keep this between yourself and your wife. This is highly classified after all, and who else but one of the most distinguished tech companies to help me?" His tone was chilling and dark, Chris' gut feeling grew the more he spoke to him, he hated it.

Chris gulped before glancing up at the man, towering over him, trying not to let his nervousness show. He sighed and got up to face him.

"Well. Alright then, sounds good. I'll foot the bill on this project and have some of my best men—" he cut him off, placing the palm of his hand in front of his face.

"No need, I already have someone in mind," he spoke in a stern tone, the bad feeling already set in on Chris as the man stuck his hand out, signaling for him to shake it.

"I also already have the test subjects available. Do not worry, your technology will be in good hands," he reassured in the same dark tone.

Chris grabbed onto his hand and shook it, solidifying the deal the two men just made. The man firmly let go before exiting the conference room.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I got your name?" Chris asked him, tilting his head to the side. The man put his hand on the door frame and smirked.

"Krane. Victor Krane," he said, exiting the room.
