Ford was studying while Dolly browsed the library, a book fell out in front of her in a plume of dust. Cautiously picking it up she flicked through it 'Anomalies and Curiosities' by B. Carver. It had a few sketches by someone who obviously didn't respect library property, triangles and circles were scribbled along with chicken scratch writing, but she had no clue what it was meant to mean.

Taking it back to her table she sat next to Ford

"Ford look at this." She opened the book to the page with the writing but it was gone

"What am I looking at Dolly?" He asks in confusion

"Um..." Not wanting to seem crazy, the last thing she wanted was to look like a woman cracking under the pressure of higher education "Anomalies, thats like a quantum thing isn't it?"

"Yeah something like that." He scans through the pages before his eyes light up "Oh Dolly, where did you find this?"

"Over there somewhere, why?" I point to the dusty bookshelf

"This is...amazing, look it talks about anomalies and alternate dimensions." You could practically hear the passion in his voice

They were walking back to our dorms from a lecture, Ford had offered to carry her books like the gentleman he is.

"Hey Dolly?" He asked with a tremor in his voice

"Yes Ford?" She replied looking over to him a blush darkening his cheeks

"Would you like to get coffee with me?" He fidgets with her books in his hand

"We get coffee whenever we study Ford?" She couldn't understand what he was trying to stay

"No like I mean just coffee, no studying." He stopped in place as you could hear the cogs turn in her head

"I don't get it. You mean like a date?" A sudden realisation spread over her

"You don't have to." He dejectedly looks at the floor

"No I would love to that sounds fun. Tomorrow after our practice test?" She suggests with a hopeful smile

"I would like that very much."

He escorted her the rest of the way home and she waved him off with a thank you for his help. Closing the door behind herself she sat on the couch.

Questioning her feelings for him, did she like him more than a friend? She'd never thought of him as something more.  Finishing her dinner up she ate reading her textbook looking over the notes Ford had annotated for her, his neat and fluid handwriting.

Ford stood in front of an upside down triangle, he was older. He looked wiser in more ways than one, she felt emotions other than her own. A crushing relief that made her almost sob. But his eyes weren't his they were yellow like he had jaundice, pupils slitted with a too wide grin walking unsteadily towards her. Her entire body felt like it was shaking with the sudden wave of fear. That wasn't Ford, that was some creature.

Bolting awake in a cold sweat she went out of her bed into the bathroom, emptying her dinner into the toilet. It was unpleasant, shivers wracking her body as she lay on the cold tile unable to move out of worry she would upset her stomach again. She lay there for most of the day, in and out of sleep watching the sun move across the bathroom tile vomiting occasionally and then leaning back against the wall. A knock sounded on the door urgently waking her from her sleep.
