FORDS POV

She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen and she was going on a date with me. A soft face surrounded by tamed strawberry blonde curls, a slight freckle on her nose, all curves in that green dress she was wearing. It was modest hiding everything she needed to but leaving just enough to imagine what she was covering up. And that brain of hers, sweet moses she was one of the smartest people I've ever met, I could talk to her for hours and never get bored, the sound of her melodic voice as she spoke. She could make talking about television seem interesting, she could sell me dirt and I would beg for more. I was so in love with her, I had been since the moment we bumped into each other.

We got the window booth, both of us eating a cinnamon donut with the coffees we got, hers with a heaping of sugar and creamer and mine black, I just drank coffee for the caffeine not the taste.

"Are you feeling better Dolly?" I took a sip staring into her brown eyes

"Yes, thank you for taking care of me. I really appreciate it." Her hand wrapped around mine and I could feel the blush rising up my cheeks

"Of-of course. I'm glad you're better."

"It's all thanks to your cooking. Where did you learn to cook like that?"

"Uh..." In reality it was the cooking of the restaurant five minutes away from campus and their signature chicken soup, my cooking skills were pathetic "My mom."

"Oh it's always nice to know how to cook some good food. Maybe we could bake sometime and I can show you my cherry pie recipe."

"That sounds delicious. Do you want to come study in the library with me?"

"Ok Ford, but this time don't hush me if I try to talk to you." It had been one time but I didn't point that out, I also didn't point out that she was speaking loud enough for everyone to hear

"I was thinking, there's meant to be a meteor shower. Maybe we can take a drive to the hills to watch?" He rubbed the back of his neck anxiously, still not taking the hint that she liked him too. It had been over three months since they first met and two weeks since their last date and she was head over heels for him too

"Oh really? Ford, that sounds perfect. Thank you." She hugged him tight, he hesitated before hugging back and holding on just a little too long, smelling the coconut shampoo she used for her hair

He opened the car door for her and she slid in as he closed it, thanking him. He began their drive flipping to the jazz station.

"Do you like jazz? I can find something else if you don't."

"I haven't really listen to jazz all that much but I think I do like it, yes." She smiled at him

They continued up the mountainous path reaching the hills that looked out to the valley. Once he had parked they stepped out and leaned on the hood of the car looking up at the constellations, awaiting the shower.

"There's the big dipper." Ford pointed out

"Did you know there's an Arabic legend that says the bowl of it is a coffin and the three stars next to it are the mourners following it. Destined to follow the coffin forever." Ford looked at it with new meaning seeing the coffin and mourners just as Dolly pointed out "It was one of the first ever stars I learnt about. I had a fascination with the stars when I was younger, could spend hours looking at them."

He looked at her as she continued to gaze up at the stars, dumbstruck by her beauty and how she chose him. Him of all people, a freak with six fingers.

"I loved the big dipper as a kid too." She took his hand looking into his eyes listening to him speak

"Well then, maybe it's our lucky charm. Oh look, Cassiopeia."

He turned to her the faint blush in her cheeks, her hand holding his, the widest grin he'd ever seen as she looked up. He wanted to kiss her, it was the perfect moment wasn't it? A stargazing date, a romantic meteor shower soon to occur. But what if she didn't want to kiss him but before he could back out he asked.

"May I kiss you?" Her head whipped around to face him

"You've already asked me before silly."

"I want to make sure you still want to kiss me."

"I'll always want to kiss you Ford." He placed his hands on her hips angling her towards him more before he leaned down his lips brushing hers savoring the taste of her before he delved deeper, pulling her face towards his. She let out a slight gasp surprised by his intensity but loving it all the same.

He pulled back slowly, like he didn't want to let her go still holding her cheeks in his hands. "I think I love you Dolly."

Her eyes widened unable to believe what she was hearing "Stanford I-I..."

He immediately regretted it hearing her hesitance "I'm sorry I shouldn't have-"

"No Ford I love you too." She kissed him once gently "I think I've been in love with you ever since you took care of me when I was sick."

"Will you be my girlfriend?" His voice wobbled, he was so anxious even though she just admitted she loved him too

"I would be honored Ford, really. I would love to be your girlfriend."

The meteor shower began behind them as they kissed once more, illustrating the fireworks going off between them, before they giggled to each other and looked back at the sky. They stole glances at each other, admiring how lucky they were to end up with the person of their dreams.

Aww, so sweet they're finally dating. I loved the idea of a stargazing date especially with Ford. I may have been influenced by the itch.io game Swooning Over Stans, I highly recommend it the art is so cute and it's just a super wholesome game.
I was struggling with this chapter and I think you can kinda tell but I have a better idea of what I'm doing once they graduate and begin to study in Gravity Falls.
See you when I see you
