Winter stood at the back of the room, trying to keep his tears from falling until he could be alone with his wife. There were only a few people left in the room, waiting to say their goodbyes. His legs were shaking, his eyes burning, he felt as if he couldn't breathe. The last of the people quietly filed out of the room, finally leaving Winter alone with his wife. He desperately tried to steady his breathing as he walked to the front of the room. As he looked at his beautiful wife, the tears started falling from his eyes freely. He took her hand in his, flinching at how cold it was. The only thing he could say to her was, "I'm so sorry, my love. I failed you. I couldn't protect you. Please forgive me. I love you so much, Autumn. Forever and always."

1 WEEK EARLIER

Winter woke to the sound of his alarm going off. He reached over to his phone on the nightstand, turned off the alarm and turned on the bedside light. He rolled back over in bed, looking at his beautiful wife, sleeping peacefully beside him, a small smile on her face as she dreamed. He couldn't help but smile. He was the luckiest man alive, being able to call this beautiful, perfect, goddess of a woman his wife. He smiled as he reached over and tucked the wild strands of hair that covered her face behind her ear, before carefully leaning in and kissing her softly on the temple. "Good morning, my love." Winter said, attempting to gently wake his wife, knowing that she could be quite difficult if awoken in the wrong way. "Good morning, my sweet." Autumn said, leaning in to gently kiss his lips. "You're in a good mood this morning." Winter said. "Well, it's not every day you get to take everything from your father and get rid of him once and for all, is it?" Autumn said, smiling and getting out of bed, waltzing to the bathroom and starting the shower. She pokes her head out of the bathroom door, looking at Winter with a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Would you like to join me, my love?" Winter didn't hesitate at those words, immediately jumping out of bed to go join his wife.

As they got dressed for the day, Autumn noticed that Winter was starting to close off a bit more than usual. "Winter, what's wrong?" she asked, worried. "Nothing, my darling. I'm just a bit worried about your meeting this morning is all. I really don't like you being around your father." Winter said, looking at the ground. Autumn walked over to him, cupping her hand on his cheek and gently lifting his face to meet her gaze. "My sweet, everything will be alright. I will have Reece and Mia there with me, and you right outside as well. As well as Marjorie on the phone with the police as soon as the meeting begins so that they will be there to arrest him as soon as the voting is done." Winter nods, and gently kisses her lips. "Alright, my love. We better get going. We don't want to be late." He said, taking her hand and leading her to the car.

The drive to the head office was made in silence. The two didn't have much to say, as they were both nervous, but didn't want to admit it to the other. When they arrived, they met everyone else at the front doors. "Hey little sis. Winter." Reece said as they approached the group. "Big brother." Autumn said and Winter just gave Reece a small nod. "Alright, everybody ready? Marj, as soon as we are in the elevator, call the police. Winter, you're in charge of protecting Marjorie. And of course, staying safe yourself." Reece said. "Got it." Winter and Marjorie said together. Winter turned to Autumn, wrapping her in a tight embrace, pulling back just a bit and kissing her hard but passionately. When Autumn pulled away, she was slightly blushed, but smiling. "I love you, Winter." She said, kissing him softly once more before pulling away. "I love you, my sweet." Winter said, watching as she walked into the building with the others. Little did they both know, these would be the last words they would say to each other.
