How long had it been since he felt like this?

A long time ago he had felt something close to pure worry, now he was alone. "Do you want to talk about it?" Caroline's soft voice had brought him back, his eyes softened before his smile became careful.

"What makes you think I want to do that, Caroline?" His voice tinged with tiredness, the night had already been annoying him with everything that happened but she smiled. Her eyebrows wiggled as the immortal werewolf chuckled.

"You have this hero's brooding look on your face. Honestly, it looks like you're just waiting to tell someone your secret!" Caroline blurted out, her eyes widening and there was something in those cerulean eyes that made Sebastien laugh completely.

"My secret? Okay, I got it!" He played into this, enjoying how she perked up, the way she attentively bent her head forward as if for the first time she could be a little more intrigued. "Caroline, I'm a werewolf whose lived for thousands of years and I crave hearts."

Sebastien watched as Caroline's face dropped when she pouted. "Is that how you want to play? Just laughing at someone who wants to help you? Ouch!" With her lips sourly pouting further, her laughter joining his when they continued to dance to the soft strums of violin.

"You know, you're not like other immortal creatures we know. You're different." Caroline blurted out as Sebastien's face quirked differently, his lips dropping open for a moment before he hummed. "You don't seem so ready to jump after Elena, for some reason." Sebastien wasn't stupid when he saw how Caroline rolled her eyes.

The immortal werewolf had known a lot about the doppelgangers. Most were cursed, doomed to be used in the most fatal of spells or rituals. "I don't really think I should bother her, you all deserve peace, quiet, and nothing we do should ever harm people still trying to live their lives."

Caroline had only watched him for a second, something in her eyes stood when she turned her eyes away. Her lips quirking up curiously.

Sebastien could just tell, she wasn't the type to let information slip out of her fingertips. With a bob of her head that fanned out her beautiful blonde locks, Caroline leaned forward. "So, why are you here? You don't seem the type to enjoy this, I can tell. I think it says a lot that you're even dancing." The fledgling vampire giggled, her fingers tightening around the werewolf's when his amber eyes softened.

He only seemed to take a moment to himself. Digesting what she said with a smile, chuckling later. "I dance, you know? We're here, well, we were invited. I usually stay in Paris, I have a home. I don't go out unless really necessary, I usually curl up with a book and listen to the radio." Sebastien hadn't ever felt so comfortable before but when he looked deep into Caroline's eyes, there wasn't judgement.

Only amusement, filled with teasing. "Hm. You are old, has anyone told you that?" Caroline rasped out when Sebastien rolled his eyes when his dance partner continued, unaware that they were catching eyes now. "Who invited you and I guess you're going to be staying then, if your sister has her way, hm?" Caroline used her knowledge of what she knew about wolves, but Sebastien had caught it, he shook his head.

What she didn't know was, he didn't have to be here anymore. "Not exactly. I don't have to be here, right now. My sister is much like me, one of the first werewolves in the world." His voice hadn't exactly seemed prideful before he twirled Caroline on her feet before he looked over to where she stood, sipping at a glass of white wine. "And, it's up to her. Matt can become an immortal, a werewolf bound to his pack and his alpha. My sister is one of the better ones, but I've had my share, I don't think I will ever find someone to take up my gift again." Sebastien had seemed resigned to that, but a part of him felt different.

Caroline had seen it, the way her fingers tightened, again. She didn't even seem to know what she was doing, but she just wanted him to be happy.

"Why?" Such a simple question that the two of them hadn't even realised how soon others had traded partners but here they were, dancing the night away.

"It takes patience to guide young wolves. They take a lot more than people expect, some people want it too quickly, too fast. They want the peace of the storm without having waded through it. I think I've lived enough chaos to want something else, unless I find someone special." Sbeastien had felt freedom then, it wasn't a burden but in the moment, he had levelled his sister with a stare.

"Special someone?" Her voice was so curious, so soft that his lips had cracked again. He had smiled more with her than he had in his thirty centuries of life.

It was sweet, it was just a burden lifted off of his shoulders to share this.

"A mate. Someone who you can share all your worries with, some witches think its meant to be a disaster. Others think it means that you've found the one person who will take you at your best and worst. Others, well, it's like finding that second piece to your life. Sure, you can live life with others and have relationships, but not like this. It's like a drug, every moment you feel at peace, you feel free, you feel loved. When wolves mate with another, essentially, your mate is your pack and you feed off of one another. I don't know exactly but when I find mine, I'd know."

Sebastien had only smiled at Caroline who only seemed to take her time in response. The immortal werewolf knew how he had a flare for making things a lot more dramatic than they were, but the way he had said that, the way he had laid it out. Well, it felt far better, it felt right when he spoke of it to Caroline.

Every king deserves a queen.

So he's heard.

"So you've been alone, taking care of everyone elses needs before your own, huh?" Her voice was difficult to place but it seemed upset and lost all at once when Sebastien only hummed, he accepted that.

It came with being the king, now his sister could do all of that. "Maybe. Why does it matter? I've done what I could, now it's on my sister do what she can." He truly seemed fine to relax, to rest as well as he could to say the least.

"Well, I think you should have some fun. You should have some real fun. Come on, how about tomorrow?" Caroline only seemed eager to show Sebastien a great time even as he looked over to where the the Originals stood, how their faces seemed to be cast in worry at him staying in the town that they wanted to find a home in.

However, before he could even answer, there was a celebration. A toast as Sebastien and Caroline were handed glasses of champange.

The immortal wolf however had been focused on Caroline, his heart beating faster than he'd ever known it and for the first moment in his life. He wondered if he could finally live, if he could have something for himself.
