"Must I dress like some sort of treasure for these humans, Giver? I would much rather have the night patrol. I have already heard from our people in France, you know, Leon is still tired of being left alone most nights." Yes, Bast knew that very well, he hadn't needed Leilana's insightful words playing with him either.
"Leon is keeping the Strix occupied and I won't remind you that one of us is equal to a few ancient vampires. We are truly immortal, and I wouldn't have any of you rushing off, not when you have brought your esteemed packs here." Bast had moved over to a mirror, eying himself with a stiff look in his eyes.
It was strange, attending these banquets or feasts, as some of the wolves had eloquently put it, would leave him nervous. Bast didn't like going out most times, he was a person who enjoyed to read and curl up in his bed, a book to comfort him.
It had left his sister with a much more suitable role, but many looked to him as a leader. He was different, he was quiet, and from his time as an immortal, he had only wished to be left alone.
Until many had chased him and his sisters across the world, it felt strange to be alive for so long and now he had been awoken.
Caroline Forbes.
He could have done something, he could have made her-
"Don't. Don't even think about that, brother, for the better part of your life you've had lovers but never a mate. Surely a queen isn't what you think of that girl." His sister had sighed as she held his fingers softly, it was not so difficult to imagine how lost he felt.
Mars and Druella had each other for centuries, for years now, Sebastien had been preparing to leave the Malraux Pack to his second, Mars.
He had proven that he could take care of better threats than anyone of his status ever could.
"It is a thought I have had for a while, to travel the world and worry about nothing. Nature deems us both a mistake, and right, now, I wonder if I want to risk that chance without finding out what that feels like." Sebastien found himself almost begging for that comfort, where he needed to feel something.
He was not a fool by any means, he had his reputation but unlike others, unlike other immortals, he was not filled with much issue. He had never known his parents, he had been left to his sisters and he had taken care of them from a young age.
He was their only thought of family. So, what else should Sebastien have done?
"You mean unconditional love, I thought that is what I was for?" She hadn't mentioned her, not yet, the wound had still been fresh, sometimes, Sebastien had wondered what happened to her.
Had she found peace or had she lingered, on the other side? He had known when it was created, he understood its importance and one day, he hoped to see her.
"You are my sister, and even you will leave soon. I won't, nor do I want to remain alone, come , it is time we show Mystic Falls we mean no harm. Especially if we find those with...a spark to be Werewolves." Sebastien had chuckled but Druella had felt something else, tugging at her baser nature.
If she'd let him know, they would have to stay here, in this backwater place under the guise of wishing for harmony with the Original. However, if her brother had her way, he would have devoured Niklaus and sent him to the bottom of the ocean.
Yet, the Hybrid would prove a slight challenge, he had tricks that even the wolves wondered he had inherited from being a mutt.
Niklaus was the least of their worries, what really annoyed Druella was the vampire. For the last thousand years, he had doted her ever since Leona had unfortunately...lost herself.
The better that Bast was focused, the more they could leave, but Druella had learned long ago. Her wolf had always steered differently, if she so found a human or another that deserved the gift of immortality, she would stress the desire without pause.
Nature clamoured to be unleashed in the most mysterious ways.
"Givers," there, minding their own, the very first of the gifted had stood there in their sunday best. Showing off beauty and radiating power as both Louis and Leliana had smirked. Their lips twitching as they had offered each of their givers an army with Bast swooning and leaning into Louis' warm embrace as the girls had rolled their eyes, laughter in them as the quartet left now without another stopping them.
What came at the ball would be something that neither properly understood, but a plot most nefarious that would stir the peace into war.
The Malraux vs the Mikaelsons had been a tale as old as time. Would it be so simple with two lives in Mystic Falls slowly becoming entangled in a family?
The Mikaelson ball would be a night to remember and it would be the catalyst that spurred the formation of an abomination.

A/N: I owe you all an apology for lack of an update and now here is an even shorter one, but the ball will be big and it will be where we go AU as Esther's plan involves a lot more than the Originals she created but creatures she had no hand in...
especially with Bast knowing about the Other Side, do recall, he's been alive for 3,000 years. He's older than certain people and younger than others. He is the very First Werewolf, along with his sisters, Druella and Leona (RIP)
See you all very soon, we're about to be cooking something super enjoyable! It also makes you wonder...
Which of the people in Mystic Falls is Druella's wolf trying to tell her about? Hm.
