"Yes of course" I reply way to quickly. She had just asked me if I wanted to come over.
"I'm home alone today, Natan went out with his friends and my mom is on a business trip" she explains "so if you want we could sleepover" she smiles, but her face grows worried as she realises what she said. I didn't even think of it as weird, until I got to see her red face and I knew what she's thinking about. She is worried I might have misinterpreted her invitation.
"Um, I didn't mean it in that way" she mumbles embarrassed. I know she didn't but the whole thing kind of makes me laugh.
""I know don't worry, l understand what you meant" I giggle at her "but it's okay I can just come over and then leave I don't have to stay for the night" I reassure her, trying to calm her down.
"No, it's okay, you can stay." She says "it's easier to go to the bus in the morning, there aren't many left that are headed to the city that late" she explains as I listen to her.
"Okay, if you want me to stay I would be more that happy to" I say trying to get her approval once again.
"Yes of course it's going to be so much fun" she laughs.
We are now up again, walking trough dense forest. It had started to rain again and it's quite cold.
"You know what?" She says facing me completely wet from the rain.
"What?"
"It always seems to rain when we meet" she laughs
"Yes it's actually weird" thinking of all the times we have seen each other I can count only a few where it didn't rain.
I gently take her cold hand in mine, trying to warm her up. She is visibly shaking with cold.
"Hey how far is it now" I ask trying to distract her from the cold
"Not much longer, it's right across this street" she points to the few houses on our left. I can recognise Luke's grandmothers house in one of them. So they live quite close to each other. I can't help but think of how many times I was so close to meeting her but I didn't, I spent my summer here at some point and I didn't even see her.
"Here we are" she says a bit louder pulling me out of my trance. She is unlocking the door in front of us, it's raining so hard she can't even see where she is putting the key. Once she manages to unlock the house she pulls me inside making us both stumble to the hallway.
"Okay" she sighs closing the door. She is laughing wiping her wet hair out of her face. I close the distance between us, pinning her to the door. She looks up at me and I can't help but kiss her. Her lips are so soft and taste sweet, like candy, it's addicting. I can feel her wrapping her hands around my torso, while she kisses me back. She is pulling away
"We really need to change you are soaking wet Zed" she breaths while her lips still somewhat touch mine.
"I don't care" I reply kissing her once again. She is kissing me back, her hands travelling up to my face cupping it pulling me closer, if that is even possible.
"What if we get sick" she pulls away once again.
"Okay" I sigh, "you win"
"I always do" she smirks while taking of her shoes.
"I'm going to get you some of Natans clothes" she says rushing up the stairs, leaving me alone. I look around me, noticing a bunch of family photos hung on the wall. There are some where Tilly is still a baby, with what I assume her mom holding her and a small boy laughing holding the moms hand, her brother. It looks adorable, they all seem so happy. I walk a bit further, as the most recent picture of them grabs my attention. There is a guy with a graduation cap smiling widely with Tilly literally hanging on him and some other girl stands by the side laughing at them.
"Hey" I hear behind me. Tilly must have come back with the clothes. I turn around to face her. It seems she has already changed as she is wearing pink pyjama pants and oversized T-shirt that says MAN EATER with bold letters right across it.
"My friend gave me that shirt" she laughs "it's her favourite song and we found it hilarious"
I smile at that and she continues "anyway, here are your clothes, I hope they fit" she says putting the clothes in my hands
"Thank you so much" I say looking at the picture on the wall once again
"Hey is that your brother" I point to the guy with graduation cap,
"Yes, and on his left is my friend, she is the one who gave me the shirt" she explains.
"You two look alike"
"Yes that is what everyone says" she sighs staring at the picture.
